Default No Subtopic for Post-Op Complications

Too bad there is no subcategory for post-op complications - or I didn't see it.
Complications do happen.

I had surgery July 16. In the hospital, I had a wbc of 21,000, a temp of 101 and pulse of 125. Doc took tests to determine no leaks and discharged me from the hospital after my temp dropped. Last Thursday night I called the doc with a temp again of 101. Friday at 3 AM I woke up with discharge from the incision site. As I touched the area, a geyser of blood and pus erupted from the site, and nothing my husband or I did could contain the flow. We went to the ER, and I was admitted to the hospital with a temp of 102 deg. and white blood cell count back up. I just got out a few minutes ago.

I had a bad infection of that site, but fortunately the surgery itself seems ok.
I hated going into a hospital twice. Am feeling a little rocky, but am glad to be home.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Janie honey. Im sorry you had to experice that. I myself had complications during my stay. When questions like that are asked anyone with complications always addresses it. Perhaps they will make one. Any questions please ask honey. I will tell you what I know and have done. Again take care of you and do what your told.

Yikes ~ that's something! Infection is always a possible complication of any procedure ~ I'm glad you're getting the care you need and I'm thankful it didn't negatively impact your procedure itself. Please follow up with your doc to be sure you nip it completely in the bud. You know, that's an interesting observation and I don't know why there isn't a specific sub-cat for complications. If you're on here with any regularity you'll see them mentioned but usually when someone is going thru something then it sort of dissipates. A newbie wouldn't have any idea what Vicki, or Boots, or Kenya have gone thru with their surgeries unless they go back an read their specific posts. We certainly discuss things when they do come up, though, and Doc always has our back with questions, suggestions and possible solutions.

Hugs ~~~ hope you're feeling much better soon~~~

((((HUGS)))) Sorry to hear you'd had a detour. A few people have had the same or close to the same, experience as you have. Hope this is the last of it, and you will feel better soon.
There are threads/posts on complications early out, scattered here and there, most in Your Profile (to which I just moved this, um, this thread has nothing to do with post op eating, so...), Coffee Talk or Stupid Qs. If you're at goal and maintaining, and have complications, the Graduates corner is the place to go.

Wow, that sounds kind of scary,I am glad you are doing better and back home. The surgery for me has been totally worth some of the rough patches, but you are correct that sub-catagories for complications would be helpful. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I would have posted this in an approriate category but there wasn't one.
I'm not at goaland maintaining. I just got out of surgery.

Which is why I moved this to Your Profile, as this is the place to let us know your progress, both the good and bad.
If you want to add "Did anyone have similar issues?" or something of the nature, then the place to post is Stupid Questions.

Ok. There should be a category for Complications. I would like to know what others have experienced, or I would not have posted it. Somehow I don't think a life-threatening infection is a stupid question.

Thanks so much.

I hope you understand that Stupid Questions is so named because CraigT, the founder, owner and host of this site, feels that there are NO questions stupid enough not to ask--in other words, ALL Qs are important Qs.

Once a board like this is set up, it is difficult to make changs without disrupting some of the structure, so it's up to CraigT and Michael to decide if changing something is worth the work.
