Hi friends,
My name is Jacqueline and I'm new to these forums and my WLS date is fast approaching. It was difficult for me to get approved for WLS by my insurance company. Five years ago I went to a seminar for WLS and decided that I wasn't ready. I would give Weight Watchers another try. Well over a two year period I had lost 60 pounds and was feeling great. I reached my goal yet. Then I was thrown for a loop when I was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer. After my surgery I thought that I could continue on weight watchers and keep at it. I even went to the meeting the same week after surgery! What actually happened was that over a period of the next year and a half I watched my weight climb back up. Devastating!
I found following the plan difficult and couldnt excersize at the same level. I then re-visited the WLS option in March. My insurance gave me a hard time, because I had lost some weight. After a call from my surgeon they finally approved me. My surgeon's office has been so great and so helpful.
So now I'm on this journey. I've decided on the Roux en Y, rather than the lap band (the two options my insurance will cover)
So a little more about me. I am married 22 years and have two teenagers. 16 and 18. I have extended family close by and we are always engaged in each others lives. I love the out doors, kayaking, gardening, walking in nature. I look forward to so many things in my new life.
Anyway, thanks for the forum, I look forward to sharing with you!
Jacqueline
