Default Starting a long Journey

I found out that my Medicaid will pay for me to have GB if I meet qualifications. I have to start this process now. My BMI is 43.5 and I have 3 small children. I have attempted to lose weight on my own, by dieting, and have almost gained more weight each time.

I haven't been under a dr supervision for weight loss and the insurance requires me to be for at least 12 months. So I have at least a year of dr. appointments and dieting to complete before I am even able to be a candidate with Medicaid.

I have decided to get as much info as I can over the next few months and update what all goes on with the dr. I am going Monday morning to find out if they will test me for several things, including diabetes. Please wish me luck on this process.

Christi

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Good luck with your process.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

Even as you go about doing your research, get to be seen by a dr as soon as you can, and have your weight documented first, have your BP checked, and have a little pep talk about diet and stuff, even though you know quite a bit. This is for documentation that you are being seen by a dr for weight issue, so if you need one year's documentation, the earlier you start, the earlier the year will end. You can have all the exams set up as you go along.

The journey may look long but in the end it is very worth it. You are worth it. As Kath says "keep you eye on the prize"

I did 6 months pre-op and lost 43 lbs. To be honest I was very upset I had to wait those 6 months but I got to tell you I learned a lot about myself and what I was going to be up against. Wouldn't change anything looking back.

Good luck on your new journey.
