Hey all,
its been a while since i have been here.. I was doin well with my goal but something overall felt unbalanced in my life. Since the surgery I have felt not myself- I seem to get overwhelmed very easily and stressed to the point i wasn't able to do normal day things.
I went the doctor last week- i was diagnosed with panic disorder- he told me he has treated several other people post-op bypass surgery as well. He put on two meds.. not working too well- one is completely making me sedative- im sleepin a lot and the other does nothing. clonazepam and paroxetine
im hoping i get through this- i guess i was so used to using food as an addiction that with it being gone- i feel lost. I dont want to feel sorry for myself- this surgery has been great but man- i feel like this is the thing no one told me about.. its not just a change in your body but your mind has to start all over...

wow. glad you got that diagnosed and are working with a dr.
the thing about this is, theres no way they could have known you had this issue because before you were coating it with food. i felt the same way about the depression when it hit hard. but truth is, it's always been there. we just actually have to deal with it now as opposed to stuffing our faces...you will find your way.
i hope things get better for you real soon. hang in there.
losing weight is the easy part; figuring out why you put it on ti begin with AND keeping it off...that's the hard part.

I am glad to hear you are taking care of yourself. Go beyond your regular doctor and see a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for counseling or schedule to see a psychiatrist.
Both are on my regular schedule, both can prescribe, and both are a lot smarter than me.

Glad to hear you received a diagnosis & are getting treatment. Things may be a little rocky to start with but once your meds are right & your system saturated I bet you're going to feel a whole lot better. Hang in there & keep you chin up. We're here is you need us.

Aw ((((HUGS))))
I've been wondering how you were doing.
Glad to hear from you, sorry of the issues you have to deal with, but again, glad you are in good hands.
What you are finding out is one of the reasons I often say, this is as much, some times even more, a mind trip as it is a physical trip. I'm sure you'll be able to find a good level to be at as your journey progresses further.
BTW, how are your work and studies going?

I'm not familiar with Parexotine but I know that Clonazepam is strong. Have you told the therapist about it making you too sedated? It's a harsh reality when you realize how much food controlled your life and now without it you're forced to deal with all the things that food made "go away."
If you're working with a therapist and in conjunction with your doctor on a regular basis, you'll be just fine. And just because they gave you these 2 medicines doesn't mean they are the right fit for you. Sometimes they have to play around with different kinds before they get it right. Just keep them advised of how they're making you feel.
Hang in there! And keep asking questions.

Please give your meds some time to work, the paxil (paroxetine) can take 4-6 weeks to give you it's full effects. I've been on it for almost 3 years now and it's done wonders for me. Also, your Dr may have to adjust your dose once in awhile if you feel it's not helping. Hang in there.
