Hi all,
recently I have been experiencing gas discomfort when I eat and drink. I don't have any pain, nausea or vomitting. a friend who also had the same procedure months before I did said this does occur at times. I've been trying to relate this to certain foods but I can't really figure out what's causing this. everything else seems fine but I was a little concerned only because I never really had a problem with gas before. I have a lot of girgling sounds coming from my stomach even when I'm not eating/drinking. my diet has remained the same. no new foods added. I did stop taking my Protonix about 4 weeks ago. I've had no problems up until about 1 week ago. my surgeon suggests I restart to Protonix. has anyone experienced this problem?
thanks all

Do as your Dr asked you to. That is very important. Honey most of us have a new tummy that likes to talk to us alot. ITs about the time yours starts up and wlll continue for a good while.
Walking will help with the gas and Gas-X will to. Its easy on the tummy I would advise you to ask if you can take it. They come in a tablet or a gel cap thing that is very tiny. Alot of people here do use it and get relief. Yes your gonna expell it now probally more than ever before but its so much better out than in.

the nurse in office did suggest Gas-X prior to surgery. she said some people may have gas pains post op but I never had any use for it. I thought this probably happens early on not at this stage in the game. I guess I better start searching for that box I bought. thanks

Sticking with the program your surgeon uses is important. Sorry to hear about your discomfort. Hopefully, things will get better soon. Hang in there. What's Protonix?

Gas-X comes in a strip that disolves on your tongue. Perfect for us GBY'ers. I found that leftovers gave me gas, even though the first itme I ate it without any problem. High fat content will do it too - even though we eat extremely lean foods and people wouln't call what we eat high fat, if it's "high" for me it can make me gassy.

Barbie - interesting post, I hadn't related gas to "high to us" in fat foods... I am going to keep an eye out now and see if that correlates to what I experience. I have gas (not painful at all) DAILY it is just "air" that needs to get out. I don't find it uncomfortable or anything like that especially at home. In public I have had to excuse myself to a restroom on occasion tho!

I am over a year out and I still have gas so bad. I just wonder if this will last for ever or will even after a year get better. It doesnt hurt but it sure is embarrassing at times. lol

Sorry guys but I still have it. I even have it on days I really didnt eat anything. Yep over 2 years I still have it. I do excuse myself always because I can see me letting it loose at home just to let it loose and then having to go out in public and not thinking about it and letting it fly. LOL.
It is somthing we deal with but if we kept it in we would be in alot of pain. Better out than in anyday.

Ms Vickie - I have a switch in my brain... when I am in private it just flows... if I am in public I dance until I can excuse myself... it's so weird DH can't really understand how I can "hold" it in public... but I CAN... it is bizarre!
