I just found this site and wish I had known about it much earlier. I am a year out post gastric sleeve procedure; have lost nearly 100 pounds in that year and gone from a size 22 to a size 4. The procedure was great; no complications and two days post surgery I felt good enough to actually do some light cleaning of my horse stalls. I couldn't believe the recovery was so fast. I had to adjust a little regarding slowing down my eating, cutting out the fast food; small portions, etc. But as my surgeon advised, the surgical procedure is a tool and you learn to use it. Before my surgery I had asthma, chronic bronchitis and was bumping up against Type II diabetes on my blood work. I'm now asthma free and off of all medications, normal blood work, and thrilled with life. God bless the Bariatric Surgeons! PS for the people who are struggling in finding good things to eat after the surgery, this was my special treat. A slice of really good Reggiano Parmessan cheese with some fresh raspberries or strawberries and a butter cracker. Yummm. Or low fat fruit yogurt with some unsalted soy seeds added. Also you discover some days you can eat and digest chicken or beef; other days you can't. No real rhyme or reason but don't get discouraged. Just honor your body and on the days you cant eat the chicken, eat the cheese!
