Default Tired and not much Energy

Tuesday, December 15th will be two weeks since I had my surgery. I have battled an infection in my open wound, but it is slowly healing. I seemed to have more energy than in the last two days. My eating habits remain really good, I eat protein every time. I try to drink enough liquids, but still may be a little bit shy of what the nutritionist wants me to consume. I walk on my treadmill for about 20 minutes a day and have been very consistent with that.

I go back to the doctor on Monday for him to check my wound and then have other post-op appointments with nutritionist and etc...and I get to weigh in again! Yay!

I remember a friend of mine saying that he got weak at the beginning, as well and that it would to pass. Does anyone else remember feeling weak, drained and just tired at the beginning or 2 weeks post-op?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You will get stronger every day. Remember that your body just had major surgery and it will take a while to heal and to get your strength back. You will feel a little better each and every day.

Ditto what John said. Are you taking vitamins/minerals yet? Most of us have to supplement our B12 which provides energy. Sublingual B12 is best. Check with your doctor about vitamins when you see him/her on Monday.

Don't worry this is normal. It will come back a little at a time. I remember that feeling well. Just follow your doctors orders and you will do fine.

Thank each of you for your responses and support. I have been on my vitamins since I been home and my son makes sure I take them each day; however, I have not started the B-12 yet, maybe when I get that one it will help.

It does feel like it should be longer than 11 days since I had surgery. I think I am expecting too much from my body and like John said I have to remind myself I just had major surgery!

Thanks everyone =o)

Some people felt weakness up to around 6 weeks post op.
At two weeks, it's pretty much normal. Don't worry.

Oh honey im sorry to hear you had a infection due to the wounds. Im glad they are treating it and its almost amazing how you will get to feeling better once you get over the hump as I call it from an infection.

On the tiredness thingg........... Oh yes. Very much so. At one time I was sleeping 18 hours a day. I was very concered over that but was told buy my surgeon after everything I went though I needed the rest.

It will get better also. Just keep check on you and im glad your seeing the Dr tomorrow to keep things in check. Be sure to update us on it ok? Take care

Yes what everyone else has said about energy is very normal, just rest and take it easy. Sorry about your wound infections, just keep them clean.
Take care.
