Default One month followup today

Hi everyone! I had my one month appt today and all went well. I have lost 35 lb. My blood pressures are running good, although I am still on meds. My blood sugar has been somewhat high (avg 180) but that is on no meds and I was on 3 pre op. My surgeon said that my PCP may start a low dose of something for a little while, but to watch carefully because as I continue to lose weight I probably will come back off of that. I am progressed to Stage 3 soft foods.

The only concern I had was that I remembered he said I would be on Actigal at my pre op consultation, and when they were going over my discharge orders the nurse said I wouldn't be taking the Actigal. I forgot to ask him this at my 2 week checkup and I asked today. He said that I should be on it (since I still have my gallbladder) and would take it for six months. I asked if not having it so far would be a problem and he said no, it shouldn't. It still bothers me, I don't want to have gallstones and have to have another surgery. I will pick up the prescription today. Anyone have problems with gallstones after surgery??

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Lots of folks have had problems with their gall bladders post-op. I was lucky in that the pre-op testing revealed a gravel pit in my gall bladder, so they pulled it out while they were in there. Buy one operation, get one free!! They couldn't pull yours because it was evidently healthy at the time. The Actigal is meant to keep it that way. Gallstones are very common following this kind of surgery. You do not want them!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss, had my gallbladder out about 3 years prior to my surgery, no other problems really. Wishing you luck!

That total includes the 14 pounds I lost on the pre op diet so it's actually been 6 weeks. I do exercise. I started walking at the track at the first of week 2. Started out slow (15 min) and I'm up to 45 min (about 2 miles). I lose track of how many times I go around.

Good luck with your surgery! It will be here before you know it!

Congratulations on the great visit and weight loss!!
Quite a few have had to have their gall bladder removed after GBS. Happens sometimes, but no one had any trouble from that surgery.
