After years of yoyo dieting I started to investigate WLS options. I have spent the last three months meeting all the requirements and have my LAP RNY scheduled for Dec 22nd. I am both excited and very nervous.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and spent the entire year in various treatments. I felt lucky to have survived, but between the surgeries and medications, my weight went up and my mobility went down. I tried dieting, but the medication made it so hard. Then, in 2008 I was switched to a new med with less side effects. The side effects of severe joint pain and voracious appetite were gone. I began to dream of thriving instead of just surviving.
What I want from WLS is a chance to live fully. Be able to travel comfortably. Be able to try kayaking, skiing, and other sports that I just haven't been able to do before. I want to be there to see my kids get married and hopefully see some grandkids as some point.
I have been so inspired by some of your stories and identify with many of the problems. I look forward to going through this journey with so many people that understand.
