I go see my Surgeon for a 2 week post op appointment on Tuesday so I will talk to him about this at that point. My problem (and I've posted about this before but am having a hard time with it) is that I'm not losing any weight. No exageration. I have gained a few ounces, and checked a few days later and saw that I lost those ounces only to be right back where I was a few days later. I am yo-yoing about 4-6 ounces every couple of days. I get out almost everyday and go walk somewhere, for at least 30 minutes, depending on how I'm feeling. It is not "that time of the month" for me yet (about 2 weeks away), I am drinking most or more of my required water and getting in most or equal to my protein. I am taking my vitamins. According to the DR I should be on pureed foods now but am still doing liquid because I'm not losing. I can't be at a plateau already can I??? I am very discouraged and frustrated and have been asking myself, did I do this for nothing? Do I need a revision? Did something not go right duing the surgery (although I was assured that everything went fine)? Besides being a little tired throughout the day, I feel fine. I still get a pulling feeling on my left side sometimes if I move wrong but being 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery, I expect I'm still healing. Any words of encouragement would be helpful. I'm anxious to hear what my surgeon has to say.

You are not losing BECAUSE you are still staying on liquids.
Your body NEEDS certain nutrients for healing, so, right at this moment, it is holding on to everything it can, because it isn't getting any of the needed nutrients from outside sources.
It's gone into starvation mode and is hogging on to everything.
You see, our body is a huge chemical factory and can make a lot of things that we need to build our body and keep it healthy, but it does need to get some very basic materials from the outside world through what we eat, because our body can't make those basic materials. If you stay on the liquid phase, you will deprive your body of these very much needed materials. The reason you are put on the liquid phase for a week or so post op is not for losing weight, but to allow your pouch and gut to heal enough that they can tolerate some substance, which will allow you to get in the very much needed materials for further healing and adjustments and realignments in your system.
Your surgeon has set your food stages to ENCOURAGE your body to start releasing the extra fat that you have stored in your body. Stick to your surgeon't program. Don't deviate from it just because you think something might be wrong.

I was supposed to start pureed foods on Thursday (12/17). I ate some blended chicken and rice which I had no problem with. I'm not totally avoiding pureed food, just doing two shakes a day and one blended high protein meal at dinner.

I remember having the same fears about "the surgery not working". Don't worry it did, follow your surgeons plan to the letter like doc said. It can't hurt to increase your time walking either. If you are doing 30 minutes once per day, up that to 2 - 30 minute sessions. It will happen! I know its a scary feeling to think you have gone through all of this and it "didn't work".

Hi, and what the doc said is true, I like didn't loose at first went in for my first visit and the PA asked what I was doing since it hadn't moved, well was doing everything correctly and it started to show, but at that time I started losing inches. It will happen just follow your doctors orders.
Good luck.

I do not believe it is possible to weigh to an accuracy of +/- 8 ounces, much less 4-6. Heck, one good BM is worth a couple of pounds all by itself! (I've weighed it! One lady here says hers is 5 pounds!! I think she's full of it!! )
In order to weigh so you can compare day to day, you have to have all factors the same so the only difference is body weight loss. This means first thing in the morning after you come out of the bathroom, wearing the same weight of clothing (zero is also a weight! ) each time. Even then, the contents of your bowels can cause the weight to fluctuate. When you try to slice it as fine as you are saying, you even need to take into account whether your lungs are full or not!!
Weighing any other time of day, you have to account for anything eaten or drank since you got up, how much of it you've already gotten rid of, and how much moisture you've lost in your exhalations! Water is about 2 pounds a quart. You need to drink 2 quarts a day. That's 4 pounds of water you're increasing each day that you balance out in the bathroom and through sweat. You really think you can weigh to a quarter-pound accuracy? I always tell my students that I don't care how many decimal points their calculators give them, does the number pass the reality test? Your scale may give your weight to the ounce, but can it really? For a comparison to yesterday and the day before? I think not.
This is where MsVickie will come in through your router and steal your scales. By weighing obsessively, you are putting huge stresses on yourself, which in itself can negatively affect weight loss. Unless you have the strength to look at the scales and say "oh my, I'm up a pound, guess I'd better cut out that second snack" and then walk away, leave the scales alone. A dusty scale is a good scale!!! No more often than once a week, better once every two weeks!!
You are only 2-1/2 weeks out!! Your body hasn't figured out what it's doing yet from the confusion of the surgery!! You are still healing, the weight loss will come!! If you're going to get wound around the axle this early, you're going to be a wreck by the time you hit your first three-week stall!!! Please, please put the scales away!! They're not helping you!!

I agree with Perfessor. He is a wise wise and again wise man who is very successful in this. Put the scale away.
Pretty soon you will be looking back on this saying..."I was worried for nothing "
Stay positive and encouraged. Don't listen to the doubts and DO NOT look at the scale!
Big hugs of encouragement♥

I ditto everyone's good advice. I had DH hide my scale...it's somewhere in the garage. I do much better without the temptation of wanting to step on it. I have gone as long as 3 - 4 weeks without weighing. The weight WILL come off if you follow the rules. Your poor body needs to use the energy now to heal, not to lose weight.
Hang in there and STAY OFF the scale!

Figure the reality of it all. If you are eating <1K calories a day, there is no way that weight will not drop off. Your body is trying to cling to the weight. Since you have suddenly stopped eating, your body thinks you are hiding in a cave in a blizzard, surviving on water, berries, and sticks. Your body is trying to conserve fat and energy.
Your body is smart and stupid all at once. At some point it will give up and start releasing the weight again.
I had a stall for >2 weeks, at about 3 weeks out. Calm down. But promise, in a year, to re-assure the guy or gal who is freaking out in these forums.
