Red face New to the Site

Hi My name is Joey and I had Weight Loss Surgery on November 28 just over one month post Op. I just wanted to say HI to everyone. I was reffered by Lisa I have contact her by email for support - she has been great- (friendly two).

I am doing good- to date a 33 pound weight loss - 20 pounds after the surgery. I don't feel like it is coming off as fast as I would like or as others but I am still happy with what has come off so far!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Default hello joey!

I THINK YOUR WEIGHTLOSS SO FAR IS INCREDIBLE! If memory serves me correctly, I think that you have lost more than I did in the first month. I know you are happy though. The referral gal is AWESOME isn't she. When you get further out, she has some WONDDDDDDERFUL recipes for ya. Each to their own though. I don't want anyone to stray back to there old ways. lol But, then again, that is what this site is for. Certain people keep ya in check. I LOVE THAT VERY MUCH! Keep truckin. YOUR DOING GREAT!

Question Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say Thanks for everyone's support. I am glad I had the surgery, and look forward to more weight loss - slow as it may be! I had a question when if ever can you take normal pills again. Right now I am on the chewable vitamens and they are gross. Plus if I have a headache is it possible to take pills for it with out crushing them up? Also when should I be going in for a check up ? I had my surgery in Quebec and I live in Alberta so I won't be going to the same doctor. I have tried to contact the doctor in Quebec but he is not returning my emails. What other supplements should I be taking?

Any help would be great!

Joey

Oh, my, left out in the cold without support from your surgeon???? That's a major bummer!
How about your primary care physician? Can you have him/her follow you up?
You should be getting at least 3 then 6 month follow up, then a year.

As for pills, be careful, there are some medication you can't take due to the damage it may do to your pouch.
Here's the link to the thread of med lists.

Also, an article on pill absorption to help you understand.

As well as your vitamins, you need to take iron pills and calcium pills at least. Check out threads in Vitamins and Nutrition in the Gastric Bypass Diet forum.

Default More Info

Hi Doc,

Thanks for the information. What kind of damage could those pills do? I have been taking Advil frequently since the surgery- having a lot of headachs? Also can you take pill format or only liquid format? I am just wondering if it is safe to swallow a pill? My family doctor moved so now I am with out care at all, and it is soooo hard to find a family doctor in Calgary.

HI joey....
i would run that bye your surgeon.
BUT for me i am allowed to take pills no bigger then and m & M
and dont have troubles with them now.

EARLY out i feared something would get stuck...but the non chewable vitamins tend to be big. PEHAPS try the chocolate viactive multi vitamin of there are great flavor ones at the e store on this site. I am okay now with the centrum but had a phase i hated it....
