Default Taste Buds? What Taste Buds?

Some of you have been talking about taste buds...well here is my story. After surgery for 2 weeks, the only thing that tasted good was potato soup no chunks. As i started into regular food, I would try something and think it tasted good. Then I couldn't eat it anymore. That is getting better as time goes tho. I do have a strange problem. I can eat out of plastic, but I can't drink out of anything but glass and the only water that tastes good to me is my home water. I can't drink bottled or the water at work out of the cooler. And smells! Wow, the day after I came home from surgery...(my brother stays at my house)he cooked a big breakfast for his son and I thought I was going to be sick. I shut my bedroom door and held a blanket over my nose for hours! I still can't tolerate perfume or scented candles yet! Food smells are bothering me less and less too. I still am not hungry and have to remind myself I still need to eat no matter how small amount it is. So ......I am usually eating something different all the time and freezing what I don't eat to try at a later date! The only thing I have been craving is bread! Weird...I wasn't much on eating bread before.....darn those carbs!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Sounds pretty normal.
There is someone here who said a while back that she couldn't drink anything out of plastic containers because she could taste the plastic in the liquid.

A word of warning. If you find food starts tasting bland a while out after surgery (not close out) you may have developed zinc defficiency, so if you have that happen, have your dr check it out.

I have asthma and nasal polyps and despite having the polyps removed twice they have return. What does that mean? No sense of smell and reduce sense of taste.

At the same time, many foods I loved before surgery I can barely stand at all any longer. As an example I was dying after surgery for the week I was allowed to return to eating eggs. 2 months after I could eat them again, I can barely get 1 down a month and only in an omlette.

Outside of a possible medical issue such as lack of zinc as Doc has suggested, enjoy the new sense of having to develop new foods and ways to enjoy them. Take the opportunity to have to change you menu and habits because of your different tolerance levels for smells and tastes and be creative.

Its just a matter of making change positive.

Sorry I meant "develop new ways to prepare foods".
Just my problem of thinking faster than I can type.
