Unhappy Isn't it too soon for me to be plateauing?

Had my gastric bypass on Jan 11th. I was loosing very quickly and steadily the first 3 weeks. However the scale hasn't budged now in about a week an a half... feels a little scary.

Isn't it too soon for me to be plateauing?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You are not plateauing my dear. Your body is just taking a break. It is still healing so you're not going to lose continuously but in "humps and bumps" as Doc says. I just finished a 4 week stall at 6 months out so you're going to experience it from time to time. You'll be fine... let your body do its thing.

Completely normal. Yes, it does freak you out when you are so early out, but it's normal. I first noticed it at 3 weeks out, again at 2 months out. Now I don't sweat it, if I know I'm doing everything as I should be (following all the rules) I know I'll start losing again soon. I found that the first 6 weeks or so I lost very quickly and it slowed down quite a bit after that. Still losing but more slowly.

You will be fine!

some days it just feels like it should all be happening quicker... but take a look most people take a year or two to lose their weight, follow the rules and you will too. Best of luck

Just go with the flow. As long as you're following the pouch rules you'll be fine. Did you measure before surgery? If not measure now for baseline. Times when you're not losing weight I bet you'll find you'll find you're losing inches.

It is impossible for you to be stalled. A stall is defined as no weight loss for at least 2-3 weeks. Therefore this isn't a stall.

Your body is still trying to figure out what the damage is from that mean old surgeon! He sliced and diced and (literally!) tied your guts in knots. It takes a long time to heal. Your guts are swollen from the operation, and will be healing for weeks (months, actually) to come.

Slow down, take a deep breath, hoooooolddd it .... let it out slowlyyyyy. Do it again. How long did it take to get from a normal weight to where you qualified for surgery? You'll lose it in a year or two. If that's not fast enough, it'll take that long anyway and you'll be miserable the whole time.

You can go through this happy, or anxious, but it's gonna take time either way. It's just that being anxious induces stress in your mind and body which will slow you down so it will take longer if you stress out about your progress.

Be patient and enjoy the ride. Hundreds have thought that they were THE ONE person that it wouldn't work for. They were wrong. So are you. Follow the rules and it'll happen, and soon you'll be posting in the WOW forum about how good life is!!

They are all correct! Further out you will even find you wont lose weight but you cant keep your clothes on. Hence the measuring. Not kidding. So relax and I know that is hard right now but please try. Your body is wondering what in the world you did to it and what your doing to it. Its ok. Enjoy the ride honey the best you can.

Im glad you did this.

Patience is a virtue. I am not a hurry up and wait type either. I have to admit it is very comforting to have all these veterans here to encourage us. Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

Yup, you're gonna lose in humps and bumps, not in one fell swoop.
Besides, even if your surface incisions have closed off, your insides are still swollen, still healing, readjusting and realigning all the functions involved.
You're doing just fine, and a respite from the weight loss for your body is quite the normal pattern.
