| I've taken the very first steps on my "new life". I am so excited I haven't even gotten scared yet-but I know I will!
I am going to Dr. Nye in Pensacola, Florida. My first appointment was an eye-opener. I had planned on having a lap-band procedure, but he was very candid and said that was probably not the best option for me...say what? After a LOT of discussion we have decided that the Roux-en-Y would be my best option. He and his staff have done everything they can to make this an easy journey-the hard part will be mine after surgery, but I know I'll have their support! They have even made my Tricare experience easier!
I'm so pleased to have found this site. Thanks to everyone who has been willing to share their stories, you are inspiring me to go for it!

I had the same experience. I went to the doc here in Philly planning on having lap band but after hearing all the statistics and taking into account my other health problems, RNY was the best way to go and I'm SOOOO happy I did it instead of lap band. Everyone is different and you have to do what is right for you but its good to have a doctor who is completely open and honest. Good luck in your journey - its long but worth it.

My surgeon showed me the data and advised me to do RNY instead of the band. He was right, and I'm glad he did it!! You can see the results in my stats.
My wife was so impressed that she had her RNY last March and is down close to 90 pounds.
Only you can choose, but based on our own experiences you won't find a lot of folks here pushing the band.
Good luck!!

I was on the fence when I started considering wls about which to use. My biggest fear was that after surgery the recovery time to get back to work needed to be shorter. After all considerations I felt that RNY was better. I took four weeks off (only three were paid), I could have gone back in three. I wish I would have made this decision years ago. Good to have you here and best wishes for your journey!

Welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll find answers to your questions here.
I researched my options too and found RNY was the best choice for me.
Best of luck with your journey. |
