| Hello, new here
Hello everyone! I am new here. Well, actually, I've been a member since before my surgery in Sept. I just never posted til now because I didn't have regular internet service and kinda read the site on my phone. It is too tedious texting from your mobile! A little about me....I was having real issues with my weight and it kinda all came to a head when I got pregnant while I was obese and developed severe gest. diabetes. So severe, I had to be hospitalized a month before my son was born, because they were afraid I would stroke out at home by myself. I had investigated Lap band before, 2 yrs. prior and actually went thru all the steps and was approved to have my surgery and lo and behold, I found out I was pregnant. Then my husband lost his job and there went the insurance and then my job and insurance. I was devastated and just gave up and figured I would never get it.
Well, I moved to Minnesota and found out I could get it here and so I tried, not really believing that I would be approved and I was! I had my surgery Sept. 09 and at 6 months out, have lost 100lbs as of today!! I never in a million years would have thought I would lose 100 lbs! And I can't believe how good I look, the energy, being able to do things I never could before; like walk a block without feeling like I was gonna die and have to sit down and rest. My self-esteem has really taken off and I feel like I can do anything now. It is so liberating and I am so happy that God allowed this to happen for me and I plan to not waste the gift he gave me. I am interested in so many things now, I just have to find time to do them all! my first goal is to learn to belly dance this year! lol! And then to roller skate! I was to embarrassed to even try in high school. When school threw skating parties field trips at the end of the year, I would go as far as the roller rink to make sure the teachers saw me and then ditched with some other kids and went home depressed. No more! I can't it to do so many things I was afraid to do for so long, too long. I just love the new me and discovering who she is! I like her!

Welcome, Newlife!! It's a grand feeling to take control of your life, isn't it? For so long you were beaten down by all the fat and now you're beating it down. One thing that most folks don't mention and the docs don't tell you about is this new confidence from success. It's almost worth the whole experience all by itself!!
What part of MN are you? We're getting quite a few in the southern area now, and I know of at least one up around Duluth. I think we're going to have to have an RR reunion after all this snow melts, maybe by August or so!!
Century Club in six is quite an accomplishment! Looks like you've got the system down pat. Now all you have to do is live it every day for the rest of your life and you'll do fine.
