| Arm Pain
When I woke up from surgery one of the first things that I noticed was that my right arm didnt seem to work right. I didnt have control and it just didnt feel right. I told the DR, nurses, and anyone else that would listen about it. They all told me the same thing that sometime the arm gets into a funny position or gets stressed during surgery, and that it can take a few days to get better. Well it will be a week tomorow and it isnt getting any better. In fact I think its getting worse. This morning when I got up it really hurt. And the muscle isnt firm like it was before surgery. Its really soft and mushy. It also seems to be a little off center. I am a very righ handed person. My right arm has always been much stronger then my left. But right now I can barly pick up a jugg of milk without almost dropping it. Im starting to wonder if they some how pulled or tore the muscle and or tendins in surgery.

Is it from your shoulders, or from your elbows?
You may have temporary paralysis as the result of your arm/neck being a position that pinched your nerves for some hours. If that's what it is, then it will get better, but sometimes, it takes a month or more to completely recover. Honeymoon plasy is the term it's often called by, so do a search with that
In any case, get in touch with your dr and let them know that you have some pain, it would be better if you could have it examined by a neurologist, just in case.

Its from the top side of the elbow and then up into the bicep. I am a very right handed person and it is forcing me to be a lefty. When I bend my arm it feels just like there is a big cotton ball taped to it like after giving blood. But the pain is the worst fully extended. I looked up torn biceps, and it doesn't sound like that.

I don't think it's muscles. I think it has to do with pinched nerves, either at your neck, or at your elbow, and from the place you describe, probably at your neck/shoulder, where the nerve to the arms come out from the between the vertabrae, and weave through several muscles before going on to your arm. As I said, if you want to be checked by someone, it should be a neurologist.

How irritating when you don't know what it is. I would get that checked out Roland.

Im sorry about your arm, I would definately get it checked out. As the doc said you may need to see a Neurologist. Dont let yourself panic, make an appointment for as soon as you can and see what the Dr. says. Good luck and please feel better.
