Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass  |  Newbie - Pre surgery Hello, my name is Jeanne. Lisa/fr1endly2 told me that this is the place to come for questions, support and friendship. I am in the process of qualifing for surgery, although they tell me with my insurance and history I am a shoe in for lap RNY. I have my first appt with the dietician today and a 3 hour appt with the psychiatrist tomorrow. That one sounds like fun.  I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I'll be hanging around and asking questions. Now I am off to read the board and get some good info.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Actually debra we knew each other from another message board. YOU have heard me talk many time of my atkins days. SHE is a person i know from that time. I did atkins before surgery and failed and then relied on it to loose my surgeons required pre op weight loss. I still go on that atkins board...and bring locarb high protein recipes from there to here all the time!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi Deborah, as Lisa said we were on the Atkins board together. I lost weight there but of course gained it back. I am from Iowa pretty darn far away from NY. However, my job is moving in June 2008 and one of my options is to move to Rome in upstate NY. So you never know I may become a neighbor some day. I have been married for 24 years, well it will be 25 in April. My husband retired from the military so I can empathise with the military wives and Tricare. I work for the US government in the Defense Finance and Accounting Service or DFAS. I have one dog named Jigs, (did have two but my precious Maggie died of cancer last April) and a cat named Alvin. I am orignally from PA but the Army transferred us out here in 1985 and we've been here since. I am an avid Styx Fan and have been to about 30 concerts. I think they are the best band ever, and I have made some really good friends from going to the concerts. The girl in the picture with me is also a Styx Chyk. (Trust me we really are sane) I am really looking forward to making new friends on the board, and what everyone says about Lisa is true. She is the sweetest, friendly person around. Last night I IM'd her after not being on the Atkins boards since early September. She answered all my questions and steered me here. I know if Lisa likes it here I will too! Probably more than you ever wanted to know about me. BTW I ride a motor scooter that I absolutely love, and losing the weight will help there too. I have this one hill I used to breeze right up and now it's not going so fast anymore. Gee, think it could be the 50 extra pounds I put on in the last 3 years?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I am in the process too Hi everyone. I am in the process of getting ready for surgery. Visited my surgeon last Tuesday and it looks like we're looking at 6-8 weeks. I only have a couple of things to do yet. 2 pre op meetings with a nutritionist and doppler on my legs. I had a pulmonary embellism in 2002 so we are being extra cautious. Had 2 Dr's tell me they would not do it becasue of that but looks like I found one willing to go forward. Anyone out there have a problem with blood clots prior to surgery? I only had one that I know of and it went through my heart adn lodged in my lung. Sure would like to know what you guys think about this and if anyone else had this happen before surgery.

I am mike, 33 year old husband, and father of four beautiful kids. I live in Wisconsin. Yah, the real northwoods. Had open incision RNY in August and have lost exactly 100#s to date. I FEEL GREAT, AND WOULDN'T CHANGE MYSELF THESE DAYS FOR ANYONE. Everyone here, when I first joined the boards, were very helpful, and willing to answer any questions I had.
