Default back to the real world

Well today my Mom brought me back to my apartment (about an hour and a half from my parents house) I have been at my parents house for 3 weeks, since I left the hospital.

My parents are generally very supportive, or at least they try to be! But for these past weeks, they were more supportive than they have ever been. My Dad checked on me all the time, and my Mom actually said some things that made me know she really understands me. They have a 3 year old dog that they rescued just 2 months ago and near the end of my stay, he ended up sleeping curled up against me all night. I loved it!

I was so sad to come back home. I cried when my Mom left. It just reminded me how lonely I am sometimes. I have a great circle of friends and I can call them anytime. But I don't neccesarily want to talk to anyone, I just want someone to sit around with. Someone else in the room when I am on the computer and watching TV.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congrats on getting home.
Even if you feel lonely now, once your weight loss and everything starts settling down, you'll most likely have an awsome time that will leave you happy, grateful and fulfilled.

Maybe you need to get you a dog. They are great company. I know some places don't allow pets but if they do a dog or maybe a cat would be a big help. Hang in there it does get better.

I am glad to hear about your support from Mom & Dad.

I have a 28 yo son. His siblings are all married with children. He is the baby and un-married. Also, he is the best Uncle ever, he loves the grandkids. He just spent 2 weeks with us, he went home last week. He also lives about an 90 minutes away.

Last night he called...and we disucssed his life plan (he is returning to college) and during the course of the conversation he told me: "I think when I make a bad decision it is because I just get lonely" (he spends money on girls that he does not have).

I was so proud of him to open up like that. I know he wants a wife and children...and he will have that...only this will be a deserving wife. He is a very special young man and he needs a sensitive honest girl that is true to him, as he does not play games. He has had bad relationships in the past and I have often been silent letting him sort things out. This time I told him: "I know we are not a substitute for what you ultimately want; but we are always there for you, anytime, we want to support you. And, know that even though I am silent when I know that a relationship is bad for you, I am aware and I do care. You never have to "just settle" because Iwant for you the same things you want...Love and happines."

I think our young adults need to know Mom & Dad are always there, and that Mom & Dad want to support them; but often we do not interfere because we are trying to let them be adults and so it may appear that we are stand-offish, unaware or uncaring; but in reality we are standing right behind them ready to catch them when they fall.

The Mommy in me thinks our grown children are always our "babies". You are blessed.

The real world is sometimes scary and lonely for some of us. But as Doc said as your weight comes off your engery will return and the excitement of living again will return. A pet may be a good choice if your allowed to have one. I would be lost without my pets, they love unconditionally and are always there.
I agree with Besty, our children will always be our babies!!!

As you heal it will get better for sure. It's tough early out! dehydration, the hormones, the body healing..it's not always the best emotional place. Walk each day even if it's just up and down in front of your apt or in circles around your living room several times a day (inside walking) and that does help a lot!

Hang in there it truly does get better!

Default Thank You For Saying It Is Not Always The Best Emotional Place

I am two weeks post op and I have had some really really down days. I am trying to drink and I am trying to get all this protein in. But what is really bothering me is that although I am eating the right portions I still am not having this full feeling they keep telling me I am supposed to be feeling? I am measuring the food but I am not feeling full? I also havnt had a bm in 5 days again and I am terrified of being in the hospital like I was last week screaming.

I called the surgeon's office and was told not everyone feels the feeling? How is this? Also he said it was normal on fluids to go 5 days? This doesnt sound right to me!

How am I supposed to recognize when to stop eating if I havnt that full feeling?

Once you start getting into real foods and away from the slider types I think you will feel the full sensation easier. Its not in the same place that you used to feel it. Mine was higher than pre pouch days.

This journey can be an emotional roller coaster for sure. We are always here to help you through the rough times and I know your parents are just a call away. Once you start venturing out into the spring air in sunny SC you will feel better.

Wishing you the best!

you MUST measure out everything that will go into your mouth. Your brain is still disconnected from the pouch, and it's going to take a while before they connect. In the meanwhile, MEASURE everything, and eat on SCHEDULE, not because you are hungry, not, stop because you are full, but stop because you've finished the quota for the meal. If you feel somethig before you finish your quota, then stop. If not, eat the quota.
