Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

HI CLAIRE!
i met you in chat yesterday glad your posting now.
AS for plataus they do happen and to all of us.
I know for me i swear that strawberries helped everytime
i thought i was getting into one and never had one .

I thought this will help you too:
And i have seen this on plataus and it makes much sense too:

Consider how difficult it is for you to run up ten flights of stairs
all in
one shot. Can you do it? I'm betting NOT unless you are a
top-notch-conditioned Olympian, right? Now, of course, you could
EVENTUALLY
get up those ten flights of stairs if you rested on the landings
periodically to catch your breath and pause for a moment before your
heart
explodes. you'd get up those stairs - but only if you rested on the
landings
or PLATEAUS.

Well, running up ten flights of stairs in one shot is what we are
asking our
body to do after WLS in the way we want the body to lose a massive
amount of
weight. As our body loses weight so rapidly, it occasionally has to
"rest
on the landings" to catch its breath, get its bearings, take a
breather.
Then once it feels rested, it takes another shot at dropping the pounds
again. It's remarkable that the body can drop so much weight so quickly
anyway after surgery. but it can't do it all in one long shot like
running
up ten flights of stairs in one long shot. It has to rest on the
landings
or PLATEAUS.

Keep this analogy in mind when you hit those plateaus. PLURAL.
PLATEAUS. No
such thing as ONE. you'll have many along your journey. When those
plateaus
hit, you still must do what you need to do. DON'T stop the good
nutrition,
the vitamins, the exercise. keep those routines going. And once your
body
is done "resting" in between the flights of stairs, it will kick in
gear
again for the next flight or two. And the more pounds that are dropped,
the
slower the pounds will drop too. so you will not lose rapidly during
that
last stretch of 25-30 pounds. it's like an athlete who gives his all
during
the race, sees the finish line in sight, and does all he/she can to
finish.
the muscles ache, the heart is about to burst. but the athlete DOES
finish
the marathon. some athletes "walk" across the finish line. but the
point is
they FINISHED.

Understanding plateaus will help you relax a bit and keep you from
self-doubt, which is something you don't need right now along your
journey.

Default Hi Claire

Hi Claire,

My name is Jerry and I, too, had a lap RNY surgery in April 2006. Also like you, I have been at a plateau for a couple of months now. Part of it is probably due to less than stellar eating habits over the Holiday season, but another part of it, I believe, is just a normal response that my body has had to the journey I have been on. Since my weight hasn't gone up any I just choose not to stress over it. Instead I just continue to try to make good choices and decisions with my eating habits, and maintain or increase my fitness program. I am sure that all will work out for both of us soon.

Congratulations on the great progress so far and keep up the good work.

Hi Claire. My WLS was in May. I haven't lost much weight in the last month either. My size has changed though. I'm getting into jeans that I couldn't a month ago.

Default Hello Claire!

Hello there Claire,
I think like just about everyone else. I wouldn't sweat not losing any weight for now. You are not gaining, so I would play the GLAD game here. You are probably losing inches right now. I hit plateaus after my surgery to. I can see though, how it is getting frustrating. Plateaus are not fun, and are annoying. I would also look at all the positive changes you have made in your diet and exercise plan. That alone, is very very good. I think you are doing a fine job with everything. Take one day at a time. Glad that you posted your question, and hope to get to know you better. Maybe we will bump into one another in chat. HANG IN THERE, CLAIRE.

Mike is absolutly right. You are prob loosing inches when the weight does not seem to be dropping. Your body is shifting and adjusting and all sorts of things are going on. As long as you are following the program and doing what your supposed to do the weight will begin to drop off again. I also have to agree with Lisa on the strawberries....I live on strawberries and have most of my post op period. I also do the nuts with them sometimes but always have my strawberries on hand. Just keep your chin up and stay in the game. lol.......Your doing amazing..

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
As for losing, you'll probably see it going down in sizes rather than scales at this moment, as everyone says.
One way to give your body a kick is to up you intake just a bit, and also up your exercise--start on some resistance exercise as well as cardio (walking, swimming, biking are all cardio) if your surgeon's given the go ahead for any exercise.
((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.
