| I'm being ridiculous, I know, but I need encouragement.
I am letting old habits get to me....namely measuring my success by scale numbers....but I'm getting worried and need a little encouragement.
Can one have a stall after only 2 weeks? I lost 20 lbs the first 2 weeks, and am down to having lost *maybe* 2 pounds within the last 2 weeks. I have been sick with a cold and haven't necessarily eaten as much as I should have, and I wasn't able to walk like I was because of the chest cold, but still...the fact that I've cut so far back on what I used to eat and the fact that what I do eat is partially bypassed....doesn't that make a difference?
I know the big picture is that I've lost 1 lb a day roughly, and I know that this is probably just temporary, but I am so discouraged!
Also, maybe tmi, but I got my period the week after surgery, and I'm getting it again???? about 2 weeks in between? That has NEVER happened to me before. Is this normal?
I am feeling like one hot mess. I am tearful, and I know I'm being stupid, but I can't seem to help it. I want this to work and I'm so afraid I'm screwing it up. I'm trying to follow the rules....the rules as I understand them anyway....protein first, drink my fluids, eat every 4 hours, and stop when I get that full feeling. Vitamins. I need to start walking now that I feel better, and I'm working on that, having walked Wednesday, but not yesterday...but I'm going to walk today. I don't feel emotionally ready to go back to work next week, but I've been off for a month, so I know I need to do so....but I'm scared that the busy-ness at work will get in the way of my eating properly....I just want this to work.
Ok, now that I sounded completely ridiculous and stupid, I'll end here. I guess I'm having a bad hair day or something. I know I didn't gain this week in 4 weeks and I'm not going to lose it in 4 weeks, and I'm not supposed to compare myself to others, but it is so hard....and I'm feeling like a failure.
oh waaahh. I guess I need to go on a walk or something.

A stall at the two week mark is NORMAL. Your body is trying to figure out what the heck you've just done to it. It thinks "Hey, what's up? We're starving here, where's all the food you used to give me?". It takes awhile for it to adjust and then it figures it out and decides it's safe to start using up all the stored fat. The best thing you can do is get on a regular eating schedule so your body learns that it's going ot get nutrition every 4 hours (or whatever your schedule is). Once it's sure you are going to feed it regulalry, it will start using up the fat.
Emotions! Yup, this is the hardest part. You're releasing extra estrogen that's been stored in the fat cells, which is going to cause you to get really emotional at times. And it can cause you to be irregular in your TOM too. Also, BC pills don't work right so if you're using them, find another BC method.
Hang in there, the stall will end, the weight will start dropping off. You sound like you've got a good start on eating, you know the rules. Just be patient.

Hi Susan, I agree with Summer and Barbie, everyone's body is unique in it's own way to the WLS and I too have the fear that this will just stop and I will quit losing weight and never have the reality of being thin again! But it does work and yes it does slow down and we all have stalls at different times, but it is all part of the process. Continue following the rules and reading and blogging on the website, everyone here is so encouraging. Congrats on your success and continued success, you are doing great!
Take care

I agree with everyone else, now that you are feeling a little better try to get back on your eating schedule so that your body can get used to it again and you know as we read that a stall in the first couple of weeks can happen but they always got through it and it passed and they were losing again in no time. Please don't be upset, it will be okay.

Glad to hear you are felling better. You got teenagers, so you know all about patience! Give your body a chance to catch on to the new program, going back to work and being busy is a good thing. Being out and about everyday and into your routine will also help your body figure things out.
Take Care
Thor

thank you guys....I know this to be true, but sometimes I start doubting that change is possible.....we had a party tonight for my dgt's best friend and of course there was pizza, lasange, cake, ice cream cake, chips, dips, etc. I feel that I did pretty well as I ate some pretzel sticks with cream cheese/salsa dip, (not a lot, but some) and I ate shrimp for dinner....but my head hunger was off the hook! I think I've drank 64 ozs of crystal light since 9:00.....oy vey! I have a wedding shower tomorrow. Hopefully I can nibble on some cheese or something. I didn't realize how much I eat in social situations! I am feeling hungry tonight, but I think its not physical hunger, but my stomach is growling. go figure.
I did walk a mile with Joe tonight, so that was good.
I took all my vitamins, I've drunk all my fluid, I exercised, and overall I ate pretty well, pretzels aside. Thats all I can do, right?
Thanks again for the support!
xoxo

| I am 4 days out from you
I had surgery on the 26th and I have only lost 20 pounds. I thought I was doing really well to lose that in three weeks? I can relate to the hormone crying thing, as well as I had uteral ablasion and hadn't had a period in years and two days ago voila. So glad for the estogen explaination to that! Did not think of that.
I am head hungry today and so tried really hard to do the whole protein first thing. Had some chicken chow mein and some mixed vegetables for lunch which was surprisingly satisfying. Had my first chili for supper and it was good and I think pouch agreed.
I find I have been hibernating? Not wanting to go out to dinner or the movies or cards because everyone is eating and I can't have those things. I too eat in social settings. I sold my house and normally I would have went out to celebrate and have calamari, I told my husband no to dinner. I hope the head hungry gets under control soon.
