Default I just had my surgery on Jan 16 07

I just had my surgery on Jan 16, 07. I am 65 years old but YOUNG 65 and needed to be healthy again. I weighed in at 219 lbs when I went in and I don't know how much I have lost....probably not much yet, but my pants are baggy. Congrats to all of you that had this surgery and I wish everyone every happiness on the road to a healthier you.
My only problems so far is not being able to sleep at night. Does anyone else have this problem and what can I do for it? I guess I just can't get comfortable no matter what I do. I have tried natural herbs, etc., but nothing seems to help. Is this just something that is normal and will cease in time?????
I LOVE THIS SITE. IT HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH. THANKS.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board ellejhon, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the loser's bench.
I have heard complaints of not being able to sleep. Since you are only 2 weeks out, your systyem is still healing, and needs time to settle down.
Don't worry overmuch. It it seems to persist, ask your surgeon about it.
((((((((HUGS)))))))) May your journey go well.

Red face Ellie "& Valerie~

Are you two laying flat??
I just couldn't do that!!! I recovered in a recliner for weeks!! Well...if you are laying flat you might try to change that! I also always took my meds late! Also...some of these things made no difference....

I'd be up posting on this site LATE LATE...or be talking on the CHAT to my friend Hanadi in Kuwait! (that was great b/c the time change is about 8 hrs.)

Wishing you both the best....if you need anything...encouragement...lovin...etc...just PM me ANYTIME!!
You girls are great...& I'm soooo excited for you both!!!

Keep downing those liquids...and protein!

Hi Ellie! and welcome to the loser's club!
I'm afraid I must say I didn't have any trouble sleeping post op, but I was on pain meds for several weeks.
As a rule, I don't have trouble falling asleep, but I do remember early on that I couldn't lay on my side because it hurt my incisions (I had lap surgery, not open). That eventually eased up and I could sleep much better when I could lay on my side.

Hey. Glad to meet you. After my surgery I had to be on pillow on my back. It was tough to get comfortable and I couldn't be on my side (too painful)! for almost 3 weeks, I believe.
I think it's really cool that you had the surgery. I had mine last May @ 50. I am trying to get my sister to think about having it. She is 64 and weighs around 270. She thinks that she is too old but she is in great health (except for type 2 diabetes). I think she would do fine. Did you have lap RNY?
Did you have to loose weight before surgery?
Keep up the good work. Baggy pants are cool!

So the pants are baggy huh? Well, that is a BIG accomplishment in itself, Ellie. WAY TO GO! I would consider that to be your first real WOW! moment. It only keeps getting better. Just wait and see. Welcome aboard here. We always love the hear from newbies.
