Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi everyone I'm new here I just joined yesterday. I am in the pre-op diet phase before surgery. I'm scheduled for surgery in early May (waiting for daughter to get out of school before I get surgery done). I researched Gastric Bypass for over 2 years before deciding to get it done. I am 365.lbs pre-op and I'm 5'7". I have been overweight my whole life and after having my daughter C-Section I have a double stomach as I call it and I'm worried that after Gastric Bypass I'll have a whole lot of excess skin (more than I have now). Can anyone who has had a baby C-section help please? Plus, I'm a worried about the Hair Loss phase. Does the hair really start falling out at three months post-op? Also, has anyone with long hair had to get it cut due to hair falling out? (I have really long hair down to my butt and really don't wanna get it cut unless it falls out or thins to much.) Does anyone have any advise regarding hair loss?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | HI TINALYN!!! wecome to the forums! YOU found a great place to hang for all your support needs! EVERYONE here helps and offers support, answers and its great. I started my journey weighing my highest of 310 lbs. AND i am now down 18 months later to 167 lbs. I am very happy. I had a c secition in 2002 ..... sure i have extra skin but in clothes its hidden well. I fit in awesome sizes of clothes that i never ever remember being ever in my life! I wear size 8's!!!! geez i wasnt even that size in high school. AMAZES me daily. As far as the hair loss...MOST people have hair loss. SEEMS to hit us all at different times. I had hair loss from end of month 3 thru 12 months when i was looseing rapidly. We dont go completely bald, as a cancer treatment patient does but we THIN. I thinned badly in the areas of my hair that i style heavy....pre op i had long thick curly hair.....i did cut it above my shoulders to help. AND had to to allow the new growth to catch up in length. IT was a tough stage for me,,,,,but i got thru it...and now its grown in fabulous. I didnt color my hair and pampered during this time. I took biotin from well before surgery to help insure the new growth came in fast and healthy and it has! There is no secret it happens. BUT i feel as my body shrank down along with it others didnt see it as easily as my immediate family did with me. BUT i got thru it! AND when i felt blue from the hair i always went shopping and tried on clothes!WHEN i saw the new size i was in sort of helped me to get deal better on the hair thinning matter. Hope i have helped! hugs

| Well, I can't say that I have ever had a C section lol, but I can say a few words about extra skin. It is hard to understand right now with yourself, but in time, you are going to be just soooo soooo thrilled with the weightloss, that you are not even going to think about the extra skin. Don't get me wrong here, there are many of us that would get T.T.'S in a heartbeat, but whatever the situation is, are content with the way we look. Noone after your weightloss, will know what is under your clothes. You will appear to be one thin chick to the public. You will get your days though, everyone does. MAYBE NOT THOUGH. Hang in there kiddo, and enjoy what his happening today, and focus on the future later. As far as the hair loss goes, I did not have any.........YET.......and I am hoping that I never do. I don't let it bother me though. I live for the day now. I know, you are probably thinking, but you are a guy. RIGHT? Well, let me tell you a little secret, Tina. I believe over the years, I have taken more pride in my hair than most women do. No offense to you, or the other girls here. lol So, losing some of my hair would be just as scary. Welcome to the boards, Tina. Look forward to getting to know you, and helping you through your journey. mike |

5' 6" Height: | Hi TinaLynn. I started out at the same weight that you are now. Yup, I lost hair. Yup I got loose skin. All of the neg. things that have happend to me so far as a direct reslt of WLS does not come near the positives of getting my life back, in terms of health, head and happiness. My surgery was 5/17/06 & I hit -115#s today. I would not have thought it possible for me to loose that weight a year ago. It's been a beautiful thing so far. Good luck on your journey.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | ![]() Hi TinaLynn....welcome to best forum around!! We are happy to have you with us. I, for one, look forward to getting to know you I worry about the hairloss too....my hair is very thin to begin with....so I don't have alot to lose<sigh> I started taking biotin (per my nurtitionalist and surgeons advive). I have also started taking hair, skin & nail supplements in hopes that I will not be one of these people whose hair falls out. I am 2 weeks post op so it is hard to tell the effects at this point. Anyways, thank you for posting....great to have you hear with us!! Valerie****

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | WELCOME... 4 C sections and numerous abdominal surgeries here! I had my wls on Halloween 2005. I started out around 212 at 4'11" and now weigh 125-130 depending on the day. Oh and still 4'11"..... You will have excess skin and most likely loose some hair. The skin issue can be dealt with in differnt ways. Tucking, Lipo in a Box etc but it still beats having the fat hanging there. THe hair loss varies with everyone. You can try to take preventative measures although most will still loose some. But as your body gets healthier and you look and feel better, those are not as important to you. Best of luck to you and we are here for ya LittleLisaMarie ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was turned down by insurance so I finally decided to save and pay for surgery myself. (My main reason for being denied was because I don't have any medical problems that are related to Obesity.) Good Luck and sorry that your having problems with your insurance.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi, and welcome. I'm in the hair loss stage right now. Its not coming out in clumps just more than normal. I recently started taking biotin and its helped it starting to get a little thicker on top again!! But it still is worth having the thinning hair to be 81lbs lighter. Of course your going to have excess skin but my theory is I would rather have soem excess skin and be healthy then have lots of excess skin and not be healthy |
