Sometimes I look at the picture of myself before. Who is that lady? I dont know her anymore. I really like the new me. I was wondering if any of you get questions from people who havent seen you in a while like " How did you do it? Did you do it the healthy way?" I ask them what they consider "healthy" beccause I am under the usumtion that losing 115 pounds, no matter HOW I did it is way healthier for me than to have remained overweight. Most people are happy for me and sopme even ask my advice on how to get information for themselves. To those who think I took the "easy" way out.....walk in my shoes..............
ps how do I add my before and after pics to this forum?

Welcome aboard! I haven't told people I had surgery. If they ask how I've lost weight, I can honestly say that I eat less, eat high protein and low carbs, and exercise. It's the truth.

Nice to meet you. Where are you from? How was your WLS experience?
I tell people when they ask me how I am loosing weight that I''m eating less. It's the truth. I am not compelled to tell everyone about my WLS. I'm not ashamed. I just feel that it's personal. Of course if the person was overweight and looking for help I would share my experience hands down.

| Hey There!
WELCOME ABOARD, wrestlersmom. Glad that you have found this site. Alot of GREAT people here, who know the feeling all too well. I have had people tell me that it was the easy way out to. NOT SO, BY A LONG SHOT! You still have to work at it, I think, just as hard as the next guy who is dieting the old fashioned way. Like, so many on the site have said, "The surgery, is not a cure, it is a tool, to aquire the knowledge of a healthier way of eating, exercise, etc." Be proud of yourself, which I know that you are. Even now, wrestlersmom, I get told I look like I have aids, or annorexic, from so called friends. NO LIE! I just let it go in one ear and out the other. The way I feel, I have worked hard to get where I am at, and never want to go back to the old me. It is a struggle somedays, yet for me, not to just pig out. Yes, sometimes I fall off the wagon. I am only human, like others. The point of the matter is to just get up and brush yourself off, and start again.
I have also, had people not recognize me. LOL That is a WOW! experience, for sure. I LOVE IT! Hope to get to know you through all your posts. WELCOME, ONCE AGAIN.
mike

| New also !!
Hi: I'm new as well. Just joined yesterday. It is nice to meet someone from Michigan. That is where I had my surgery on Jna. 10/07 in Ypsilanti even though I'm from Chatham Ontario. My starting weight was 287 on a 5'9" frame. I have the height but am still obese - to-day I weigh 258. The past week I hardly lost anything - I think not enough protein and water - also had some blood pressure problems with meds - they were too stong I guess for the size of stomach I now have as well as losing so much weight quickly. I've dumped a couple of tomes due to my own fault - fried piece of chicken . All in all the last 2 days I have felt almost back to normal - whatever that was. I find it hard preparing a meal as I live alone so sometimes I just have a Lean Cruisine meal and throw more than half away. I'm nervous about eating out but I guess I'll get there with this kind of support. Well thank you all for your welcome and I look forward to being a part of this team. Garda. P.S. I;m 64 by the way so anyone my age bracket I would certainly like to talk to.
