Default ~~~Judijo Waves~~~

Hello to all.

I am known in cyberspace as judijo. My name is judi and I received in the mail a letter from my doctor's patient education department, that said to call them to sign up for the bariatric surgery classes. Yay! This is a new doctor for me, and I went to him because I know his wife has had weight issues and had some sort of bariatric surgery. I honestly did not expect him to bring up surgery so quickly, but when I explained that at my MOST rigorous effort to lose weight was only about 30 of the >100 I had to lose, he said simply, "OK, then...you are a candidate for bariatric surgery, if you are up to it."

Wow. To think I have waited this long. sigh.

So my insurance is with my husband's work and he got laid off in Oct, and the severance package allows him insurance through April. We will have to COBRA the insurance until I have been cleared post-op. The classes are 6 months. I wonder if, because of the insurance issue, I can be fast-tracked somehow to the surgery. My work has health insurance, but I don't want to be hooked up with them only to have a pre-existing condition. sigh. That is what that "rainy day" savings is for, I guess.

Anyway, this seems to be a nice cozy group. Looking forward to reading y'all's posts.

By the way, I am a bit obsessive/compulsive (really...I was diagnosed. I am not as bad as Monk, but I have my moments)...the word is "lose", not "loose". You lose weight, and when you do, your skin is loose.

Thanks!

Judijo.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board judijo, thank you for joining us.
((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.

As for the 6 mo class, it may well be that the class is for 6 mo because a lot of insurances are now requiring 6 mo supervised diet and weightloss effort before approval, so you'll clear that requirement without having ot back track. So, you need to check on the requirements of the insurance you will be using, to see if you can cut the classes short. If the insurance has that 6 mo requirment, then I don't think there's any way around it.

Good luck, wishing you the best.

I have been thru the insurance nightmare myself. I was approve in 2003 and then my husband had hip replacement surgery and was off work for 4 months and his job did not rehire him right away and then when they did I had to wait 3 months after that to get my insurance reinstated. I then took my sweet time losing my 10% that kaiser requires. I had my surgery 4-10-2006. It was a long wait but I am glad that I hung on
Keep us posted

So....if you go back tooo far, I will be a culperate for using the wrong word! LOL....in fact...I'll show you a funny one, check out this picture of my "butt comparison" between my 2nd and 3rd month post op!

Thought you'd get a laugh....

Welcome again...looking forward to getting to know you better thru your posts....and praying that all your insurance needs will all work out - and that your surgery will be expidited!

I am about 10.5mos Post op....quickly approaching my year anniversary! I can hardly believe it!! I've lost a total of 137#'s - and feel amazing...but still have another 48#'s to loose until I hit goal....
