Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Welcome to the board Cheri. Sorry you are having a bad time of it. I have not had the surgery yet so I am not experienced. But I can tell you Dr. Senae or Lisa (Friendly2) will be responding soon as well as others. I will be interested in the answer as I will be having my WLS soon. Hope things turn around for you real soon. Have you ask your Dr. about it? Mattie in Texas |

| Whipper Snapper | Hi: welcome!!! I had my surgery on Jan 10/07. No I have not experienced the type of problems you are having. I can drink the water but it is a full time job trying to get it all in. The food thing has been no problem as well. When do you go back to your doctor or maybe you should call them if you don't live close by. Let me know how you make out. Everyone here is very helpful. Garda. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Cheri... I'm 10 mos. post op....that doesn't sound normal to me - BUT, my first response is that you should call your surgeons office...and tell them this. It's possible that you have a 'stricture.'.... You can not self diagnose....CALL Them....he's there for that! AND....that is why HIS OFFICE WORKERS are there !!! You can do this.... Welcome to the board....welcome to our family....welcome to the LOSERS BENCH!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hello Cheri, My name is Phyllis, and I had my surgery on Jan 30th. I am by no means a doctor, but it sounds like to me that you have a stricture, which means that the hole to your stomach is closing off! You really need to call your surgeon and let them know that you can't keep anything down. They can go in, and open it back up. It's actually a fairly common complication after this surgery. But you have to eat and drink, so make sure you call soon, and let them know what is going on with you. Hope all goes well, and keep us updated. You are in my thoughts and prayers! Have a good day.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | INSIST on a scope upper GI wont tell about a stricture. IF your opening is blocked with scarring it will cause this issue ur having . I am not a doctor but from my experience around many bypass people a scope is the only way to diagnose. LOOK around few folks on the board had strictures...... and i believe they were ALL diagnosed thru SCOPES and during that procedure they dilate your opening! AND some cases had to be done over and over. AN upper GI does not to my experience diagnose this problem good luck BE stern and insist this!

| Super Moderator | Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. Congratulations on joining the loser's bench. As everyone says, I also think you should have a scope done. Upper GI X-rays essentially will tell the drs only that there is enough opening for the barium to flow through. How large or small the stoma (opening) is, actually can't be judged unless seen. Also, if you are having a hard time drinking, are you sure you are sipping your water, and not trying to gulp? Are you sure you are chewing whatever you are eating until it is mush in your mouth before gulping? Trying to eat/drink too fast can cause problems, too. Hang in there, go kick your surgeon's *** until you have an answer. (((((((((HUGS)))))))))) May your journey go well.
