Default hello everyone

would you all believe it has taken me nearly 2 days to figure out how to post on here? well hopefully i got it figured out now! my name is kathy and i am close to 6 weeks post-op. i have to say that the road i have taken has been much harder than i had ever imagined or was told, but i am very happy i have taken it. its really weird because though i know i have lost quite a bit of weight i really dont feel as though i have lost any. the last time i weighed i had lost 50lbs, that was 2 weeks ago, but to me i just dont feel it. i dont know if i would say that im depressed right now, but i have had a hard go of it since surgery, someone had posted i think last year about numbness of the butt and it was suggested maybe something with a disc or something, well i have had the same problem since surgery, its in my left buttocks and hip and thigh, i have a terrible time sleeping because of the fire that shoots down my leg and then the itching settles in. on top of this i have terrible nausea all day, i still eat only soup and most of the time i cant keep this down, i dont get in my protein or my liquids because of this. i know in some ways im just being a baby but though my husband has done SO many things for me, things that a man should never do and i will never be able to repay him for, he really doesnt understand what its like to not be able to keep anything down and nearly everytime you try to eat something of substanance you end up puking your guts up, all he understands about this is how sick it makes him to hear me in the bathroom. so all in all if anyone has any words of wisdom or experience i could use them ......... thanks!
kathy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

KATHY!!!
FIRST off im glad you have figured out how to post!!!!

NOW i have to get on you to notify your surgeon about the difficulty keeping down your liquids and that your only eat soup that far out.
IT could be many things causeing it and not always the normal.
PLEASE have your surgeon check for a stricture that is causeing
this trouble with keeping most things down.

ITS not an easy journey by no means but you need to be sure you tell your surgeon of all the difficulties your experiencing. WHEN you do eat a more solid food are you CHEW CHEW CHEWING??? eating very slo??? i know for me i dont do that and thats when i vomit. BUT early out i was very careful to not throw up when i was healing.......

I will add congratulations on the 5o lbs gone!
I know you dont see it or feel it but start comparing
photos side by side and u might start to see it.
I hate to say i didnt see my weight loss for a long time
almost 75 lbs.......it was when i finally stopped hideing
behind the oversized big clothes and WENT shopping
for something that fit!!! at that point i was so happy at m
new sizes it pulled me out of the blues and funks that we
all get in. EVERYTIME that was hitting me hard shopping
and seeing new sizes always pulled me thru.

I look forward to getting to know you thru you posts!
IF you feel free to IM me in any of the instant messenger
programs anytime!!! PM me thru the board or email me!

hugs
lisa

Welcome to the board Kathy, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the loser's bench, when did you have your surgery?

Now, about the trouble you are having keeping down your food, I agree with Lisa/fr1endly2, you MUST go to your surgeon and have him/her check you out. Whatever trouble you have, whether it's about eating, or other health issues, you must always ask your surgeon first about whatever. If you are in doubt, your surgeon is the first person to go to. I cannot stress this enough, it is very important.

As for getting used to this board and figuring out how to do stuff, please check out the FYI:How to navigate this board thread, general explanations about all the different forums, plus which threads and forums to check for posting pics and other things, are all listed in there, and linked wherever there is a need to. Just click on the blue letters and you will be linked to the thread.

(((((((((HUGS)))))))))) May your journey go well.

thanks for the replies, i did email my surgeon lastnite and let him know what all has been going on, i live about 5 1/2 hours from him so it is quite difficult for me to see him. he actually released me to my pcp on my post-op visit asking me to keep in touch via email because of my distance from him. hopefully i will hear from him one day this week as to his thoughts on my issues. my surgery date was jan 30 and i had open rny. thanks again.

Hami girl,
Hello! Well, I had surgery the same day as you! Im sorry to hear about all your troubles, but I do sometimes have the same problem with keeping down things, but I don't start my full solids diet until next tuesday. I hope you hear something from your doc soon, I know its a terrible feeling to be nautious all day, I have the same problem sometimes. I did find some gas-x thin strips, and they help me out a lot! Welcome to the board, and I look forward to getting to know you through your posts, and going through this journey with you since we had surgery the same day!
