Default Moving Beyond Insurance Denial

I was feeling so down yesterday after finding out my insurance will not cover my surgery even tho I thought I was prepared for a denial.... I've regrouped and have made a decision....

I'm going to pull the $$$ from my retirement account (since it is for medical, I won't get dinked on taxes). I feel at 313 pounds I won't be around for retirement anyways so I might as well use it now!

I'm back on track so I, too, can begin my personal journey!! And, I must say, my first instinct was to raid the fridge.... but, because I have been preparing for my upcoming surgery, I don't have 'junk' food in the house. Thank God!!!

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm sorry about that NettiePooh. I was also denied because wls is excluded from my county health ins. But, I've been losing some weight on my own because I'm diabetic so regardless of my situation I have to lose the weight. I used to weight 304 lbs and I'm down 13 lbs since my last visit 1½ weeks ago. I don't know how much i've lost this week. I will find out next week. So, you're not alone!!! do whatever it takes for you to save your life. Keep me posted and keep fighting if you can do still.

Good luck!!!

Lol,

I'm sorry to hear of your insurance denial. Even if you have to pay for the surgery, it's still a great investment. When someone buys a brand new car, the cost would be about the same-but it would start depreciating from the minute you drove it off the car lot. With a new body, you don't park it in the garage at night, either,--you get to enjoy it 24/7!!!

Im sorry. Still gets me so mad that these insurance companies are able to dictate what they feel medically necessary regardless of what our docs say. Something needs to be done about that from the higher ups...

Hang in there. Keep us posted.
