Default Hi, New here and wanted to introduce myself.. :)

I FINALLY found docs that would take my insurance, am scheduled for the seminar. This is such a relief as I have been trying for 5 plus years and had no luck. I have always been so very afriad of blood clots, I had one previously after surgery, so its really making it hard on me. I have 200 lbs to lose, and am 41 with mild lupus, but serious joint problems. I am not living, i am just making it through the days of the week. I want this with all my heart, but i am scared of being one of the statistics.. Is there anything they can do to help with the risk of clots, seems like the can do thinners if you have had a previous problem...

Nice to be here and i am sure i will learn a lot. I keep telling myself, if I have the surgery i will HAVE to eat right after it, why cant i just do it now?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Hope you feel at home here.

There are blood thinners that can be used, but using them with surgery will be tricky, so you will have to grill your surgeon about your medical issues point on point. Make sure you have a list of all your questions with you, whenever you attend seminars and meet your surgeon and other members of the the staff.

(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

P.S I have moved your thread from the original forum you posted, as it is more appropriate here. I hope you won't mind.

I do remember someone posting here about thrombosis and having the surgery done (it was one of the reason for surgery, as deep vein thrombosis is often a co-morb of obesity) but I don't remember who nor when, it was quite a while back. The person did well during and post-op in regards to that. Since I can't remember who, I can't tell you how that person is doing long term, though since I can't remember, it means that that person is not reporting anything further on it, which I take as a sign that the person is doing quite well.

Welcome, you will love it here. I have been coming here since September 2006...my surgery is in 16 days. I have had questions answered and learned so much here. I know I can ask ANYTHING and share my concerns and feelings so openly. So glad you are on the journey. Much success to you.

Default Im new to

Im new to but perhaps I can shed some light. Im a nurse. Trust me after any surgery they will have you up and walking on the same day if at all possible. They will make you walk each day until your relased and then will insist you walk each day a couple times a day afterwards. If you have had a clot before you know the symptoms you had when you develped it. Watch for the same things. Now this might help. I had knee surgery a couple of years ago. Because I wasnt able to bear weight on it they told me to do excerises while laying in bed to prevent a clot. Like laying there and mashing on a gas pedal. Im sure they will give you alot of instructions on when you go home.

I am going to my next consult on March 29th. I to have been pondering this for years. I have decided that I would much rather face what could happen than what is going to happen if i dont do somthing. These people here are so nice and reply so well. I have only been here a few days myself. Were going to go thru this together.

And hey..... im sure your gonna have to go back to your Dr. Ask him what he does to make sure you dont get a blood clot to begin with besides walking afterwards.

Keep me informed
