| Super Moderator | Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. Congratulations on your weightloss, wow, you've done soooo well for yourself!! Maintenance mode is another new life, and settling down there often has its own ups and downs. However, the tool you have is still there with you, so, as long as you use it as it should be used, you'll do very well. Looking forward to getting to know you and your input, ((((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well it is good to see people doing what they can to live a healthy life--- I follow a number of WLS boards---gotta love the support you get from them---for me support has been key in alot of areas of my life---this is just one of them. To share a little more about myself---I had surgery in May 2004---on the advice of my psych doc---I have a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder also-- he felt I would be a good candidate although I have suffered from an eating disorder for over 30 yrs---bulimia and binge eating--- I did not have much support from my WLS center after the first year---so kinda worked out my own eating plan very early on---since our way of eating is mostly a low carb diet---I began doing research into it with very early on---like 2-3 months post op---I consider myself one of the lucky ones---I dump at the first sign of sugar and most carbs make me ill also---ending up in the ER from eating rice---yeah the dumping syndrome got that bad---I had to look into the science behind this---I'm a RN so am familiar with how the body works on some levels---and being a severe diabetic for yrs---I already knew that low carb was the best way to eat for that---so I adjusted my eating to more closely follow that of Dr Atkins and the hubby/wife team Drs Eades of the Protein Power plan--- I eat a more high fat diet than most of my fellow WLSers---doing this I was able to rapidly lose 180 lbs before my first surgiversary---the rest came off the next year and I was at my goal of 130 before my 2nd surgiversary--- I have since regained 30 lbs---it is a very long drawn out story---doing with changes in my Bipolar disorder and returning to eating complex carbs----I'm back now---stable---and finally free from the carb monster once again and have returned to my 20 gms of carbs a day or less---the weight is slower coming off but the tool still works---- on a more personal note---I'm single--hubby left me when I lost the weight---too bad for him---not my problem---I have one son, 24--who lives in Connecticut---I've already said I'm an RN but I work in the mental health field with others diagnosed with mental illness---I love crafts and crocheting is my fav to do---I'm an excellent cook---and I collect recipes and cookbooks---I'm a southern girl--big surprise huh---I love to travel and my dream is to have an RV and travel throughout North America--I'm mommy to a little fur-baby--Bear---a black Pomeranian--- look forward to getting to know each of you over the coming months--- this is Bear...... ![]() |
