Default Update 3 weeks out

I had my sugery 3-12-07 and if I believe the scale I am down about 40 lbs. My scale and the DR scale are two different things. It seems to be a fairly easy jouney now although I did have some rough times the first week. I thought I would be able to take a multi Vitamin whole the first day home and it must have gotten stuck as I was sick for about 8 hrs untill it dissolved I was cursing the whole thing. I have tolerated most everything save for last night small Tuna steak did not sit properly. It is great to read other stories about what people are experiencing. My best friend is the hand blender I have found that I can blend in 3 ounces of canned chicken into a low sodium cream of tomato Soup and turn it into a 20G protein meal. so if any on has any other meal tips please pass them along I am not sure yet what I can eat but it seems to be trial and error(I just do not like the errors).

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench, you are doing sooo well.
For recipes and eating tips, check out the Gastric Bypass Recipe forum, you'll find lots of yummy stuff there.
If you aren't sure what stage foods you can eat, call up your surgeon and ask, or get referred to a nut/dietitian. Although, at 3 weeks, the standard stage would be pureeds.

Hang in there, ((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.

40 lbs in 3 weeks that is awesome---I also noted in another post how your meds for your diabetes have been decreased---another good thing--

in the beginning the blender was my best friend---although my center sent me home on soft foods right away---each center is different I'm afraid---so the doc is right about checking with yours---

when you get to the soft stage---eggs will be your best friend---try them coddled---my favorite way to have them----I'm 3 yrs out nearluy and still have problems with scrambled eggs---

I like you quote on trial and error----but it is a learning process---what works for some others could not take---

kepp us updated on your progress

Congrats on your success! I will keep the Vitamin thing in my mind. My Doctor said it would be about 6 months before I could take any medication in pill form only chewable and opening the capsules if applicable.

Default Hey there John!

WOW! Forty pounds in three weeks is awesome work. Hats off to you. You so far, sound the same as me, with having no difficulties after the surgery. Everything for me, went smoothly. So far, being a little over 8 months out, I have had only one minor episode. I had a small peice of a turkey burger, and almost instantly, my stomach started to really hurt. I felt as though I was going to toss my cookies, so I went to the bathroom, and started to pray. lol I gagged a few times, and it must have dislodged or something. I felt, basically, instant relief. Thank God for small favors. I don't do well with ....Never have. No probs to speak of since then, and doing great. I have lost 106 pounds, and am loving the new me. Hang in there, it only gets better. Glad that you posted, and hope to get to know you a bit better through your posts.
