Hi Randy and Welcome to RR! Congratulations on your surgery and weight loss so far! You will find many people here at various stages of their journey, some are just begining the process of investigating their options for surgery, some are trying to loose weight without surgery, some are seasoned veterans who are years out from having surgery and others are like myself who just had surgery (I am almost three weeks post-op). No matter where everyone is on their journey everyone has so much valueable information to share and support to give so feel free to look around and post when you have questions, being part of a support group like this is key to success. Advice for now would be to sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, and follow your surgeon's directions to the letter, and try to take care of yourself while your body is trying to figure out what on earth you just did to it. Congrats again on your surgery and weightloss and welcome to the forum! |

Welcome Randy. I am 6 weeks post op and it has been an eye-opening experience that is for sure. I had 3 weeks of liquid and 1 week of that was clear protein liquids. 2 weeks of mushies and now I am on my way up to the hard stuff....sorta. :-) I tend not to push it too hard. Lots of nice helpful people on this board and you found a home.

Advice for the first weeks: be patient, get a lot of rest, you had major surgery! sip sip sip walk walk walk. You need to get water in and walking will help with passing gas and it's good for you.

Hi.. good luck on the journey.
I am 6 weeks out (1-31 surgery). The first week I was on clear liquids and content.
the next 2 weeks I was on clear "full" liquids...yogurt, cottage cheese... by the end of the 2nd week I was interested in more selection and tiptoed in to puree food a little earlier than scheduled. I pretty much follow a soft food plan now. Haven't had any raw vegetables, no salads...
My advice is to concentrate when you eat and eat slowly, get your water in and the protein... walk around the house as much as you can.
I have read on this site if you are feeling sick to call your doc. Pretty sure he can prescribe something for that.
Take it easy and get plenty of rest.
