| Newbie | Hi My name is Jane from Yorkshire in the UK. Iam impressed you are the first person I have replied to. I joined only yesterday after returning home from Hospital outpatients slightly shocked as the surgeon offered me a gastric bypass, I thought I was asking for a lap band but he said the bypass was better, now I'm freaking out! |

| As everyone has said, you will do great with whatever way you choose to begin your new life. When I first went to have a consult with my surgeon, I really didn't care which way I had it done, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, all the surgeries were kinda scary for me, as I did research on them, but I knew I needed to do something or I would be heading for a whole lot more medical problems down the line.....more than I already had. I ended up having open incision RNY. I know people that have had it done both ways...lap band and the bypass. They all are doing wonderful. Whichever way you do choose, all your new friends here will help support you in anyway we can. Hang in there, kiddo. Just remember when your time comes for surgery, do what your surgeon tells you, and advises for you. That is very important. Hope that we all can get to know you better through your posts. mike |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi Jane. Im Vickie. Your gonna hear the word research alot on here. But its the best thing you can possibly do for your self. The best thing is that you seem to have access to the internet which is a great tool. Its seems all complicated and actually its not. You read. You read more. This board you ask questions and belive me you will get answers. This is why this place is so special. You feel welcome immediatly. So many topics have been brought up and I seem to learn somthing new each day even though I thought I knew all about it. It took me now a total of 6 years to feel comfortable enough to make the decision to have the surgery. Im still Pre OP. However I am running the rail so to speak to get my surgery date. Somthing I like to share is this. The surgery is scary yes. But I am much more scared of what will happen to me if i dont have it. Take care and ask all the questions you need to. These people are great. |

| Welcome Jane! I am pre-op myself, but I have been researching and contemplating RNY surgery for 5 years. At first I thought it was pretty scary having your insides rearranged, but now I am ready and want it down now! The people here are great and will give you a ton of support. They have been through it and can answer all of your questions. It makes you feel like you are not alone in this journey.
