Default Fear of a perfect life??

Well, as I posted in Coffee Talk, I am patiently waiting ins. approval. All is going well. I asked this question in a support group meeting last week I was lucky to get to attend. My nut was there and gave me his input...but I want to hear from people who have actually went through the wls process. So here it is....

I have a wonderful life...not easy....but the obstacles I have encountered have been overcome. I am very happy and blessed. My weight/health has loomed over me and is really my only holdback in life. I don't want my life to change ( I know it will) but I want my quality of life to improve. I lay and think about how much better my life will be and well....I get scared. I don't understand it. I don't feel like that all the time, just sometimes I think about it. My nut said this is normal for some people. He asked if I felt like I don't deserve this? I said no, I think I do and I feel so lucky to be doing this. He said that was good and that some people have so many problems they have a rough time dealing with the fact that wls did not cure all their problems.

But have any of you had this feeling? I can't explain (wish I could), except that I get scared feeling about life be so great! LOL, it sounds silly....I guess this is just one my "things" I have to work through. Thanks

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

It is perfectly normal to feel nervous about the changes about to be kicked off in your life. You just take it day by day.

Could some of the fear be just being afraid of the unknown. Change in its self is scary. Maybe it is easier to stay the same rather than take the leap. For me the fear was...will it be all that I imagined, could it even come close to my expectations. So far more than I ever thought!!! It's not an easy choice. Just the right one for me. Good Luck on your approval. Chin up! No matter your choice, it will be the right one for you at the place where you are at now.

Normal feelings, the fear of the unknown was awful for me but once the weight started coming off and I realized I could do things I hadn't been able to even think about in over 20 yrs....I said to myself "look out world here I come" and haven't stopped yet lol!!!

I felt the same way..On one hand I wanted/needed change but on the other was terrified of it. I think for me it was that I was doing something to help myself and more concerened on how it would affect everyone around me. Like yvonneiam said once the weight started coming off I stopped thinking about it. You will go through a flood of different emotions (mine really hit hard a week before surgery) but you just have to look at the other side.we are all here for you so if you need help working through it just ask!!!!

I see myself like you. I wasn't unhappy in life...I was content...but I wanted healthier longevity and better mobility. I didn't have diabetes or high blood pressure..my joints were aching, and I had some lower back pain. But I realized w/o losing the weight FOR REAL and KEEPING IT OFF, I wasn't going to have a good quality of life... I would basically live out a Ground Hogs Day scenerio... and I didn't want that.
I think it is normal to question your reasons..and your outcome..Good luck. I hope your get approved. Then, it is entirely up to you. Personally, I have no regrets, I am 3 months out.

Default No such thing a perfect...

However, i do understand how you feel. I would describe it as " an overwhelming joyous feeling, that is so intense that it is scary". . It is hard for you to process the additional happiness... that's to go from a great life to a kick ass life is alot to confront all at once.. But it would be great so don't be scared but brace yourself... it is going to be fun ride..

"it's all a process"

WLS is surgery. It changes your body but not your mind. That is why many of us say this is 90% mental and 10% physical.

The tool will help you control your eating but what you do with that will make the difference in what your life will become.

Personally it has allowed me to do more than whan I weighed this same weight 25-30 years ago. I am more physically fit and active and have more energy than I did when I weighed the same.

I feel like I have a second chance at living and while chonologically I am older, I can and do compete with people half my age in physically challenging sports (and beat them).

Dont fear change, no matter how good you believe you have it now, it will be even better if you have the right attitude.
