Question surgery 4/24!

Hi everyone! Well, I've been reading the forums for a month or so now, and have just gotten "brave" enough to post. lol. Well, I started this whole process on 3/16/07 and now my surgery is 4/24/07. Fast, huh? I've been to a psychologist, nutritionist, excercise specialist and next Tuesday is the big day. Tomorrow is my last day of "regular" eating, I start my liquid diet on Saturday. Of course I am scared and very nervous, but I believe that this is the answer for me. I guess what I was questioning, and what is making my family a bit nervous, is the short amount of time this process has all taken. I've read Online and watched different documentaries about people that have been in this process for years. I went to my first docs appointment about a month ago. I should also mention that I am a healthy 25 y/o female and thankfully have had NO major health issues (yet). Just someone that has tried many diets-no luck. I can ALWAYS lose the weight-I just can't keep it off or take all of it off. And of course, this has made life quite miserable at times. People certainly treat you differently and the quality of life is just not there. I've fully researched the doctor that I am seeing. The Bariatric Surgery Group that they have started is accredited for being the best in my area. So, I feel confident that I am with the right group of doctors. Also, my docs office is saying that they haven't heard anything from my insurance company, yet. Is this normal with surgery being 3 business days away?? Any encouraging words or similar stories would be great!
Thanks for listening....
I wish you all the best!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

hi jessica
you and i are having surgery the same day. good luck and you will be in my prayers as we get through this together. this is a happy and scary time in our lives and with each other and the help of the wonderful pals on here we will come make it through our journey. as for my insurance it took about 2 weeks to get approved once everything was together for them. it was quick but they would not have scheduled me for surgery without getting the go ahead on paper. just make sure you aggravate insurance co. to get the paper work in on time so you have no problems getting your surgery on Tuesday. take care and my prayers are with you.

Hi Jessica -

Welcome to the boards! I didn't get my approval until a few days ahead of time. My surgeon's office didn't seem to be very concerned about it but I was!! Not sure where you're going. I went to Dr. Graber in Utica and he does 9 surgeries a week. I think it's just not a big deal for his staff because they do so much work with the insurance companies. I would imagine it's the same for you based on your post. Hopefully someone will call you with some good news today! Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hugs,
Chrissy

Default Hey There Jessica!

I hope that your surgery goes well for you on the 24th. WOWZER!, that was fast. In your post you said it all. Everything is looked upon differently when a person is heavy. We all know that too well. You picked a great spot to stop, and get support through your journey. Hope that we all here, can get to know you a little better. Support is huge, especially in the beginning when all the emotions really start coming out. GOOD LUCK AGAIN, Jessica.
