Default Restrictive Lung Disease??? Hope my surgery isn't cancelled

Hello all,

This is my very first post. And im hoping you can give me some advice, or your thoughts....i am scheduled to have gastric sleev on the 23rd. Did all my tests. Had a pulmonary test yesterday and the dr said i expel only about 56% of the air in my lungs. My o2 sat was at 98%. But he is having me do a PFT on the 15th ( the soonest appt available ) and i am just soo scared that they might cancel my surgery. I have shortness of breath when i walk upstairs, sleep apnea, hypertension, and gallstones. I am 116lbs over weight and have been overweight forever. I have an 8 year old autistic son that needs me and i want to be healthy for him. HELP! im soooo worried!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I have a 10 year old child on the autism spectrum also (Aspergers). I understand how you feel. Whatever is going on with your body, I'm so glad for you that this was picked up now. I felt that way about all of the tests prior to my surgery. If something is wrong, the process may stop and the problem will be dealt with. I know that it is scary to think a test can stop you from getting this surgery right away, but thank goodness we can stop as we go and deal with whatever our body had happening all along. Hugs to you.

I truly hope it works out for you. Surgery would seem to help several of your medical issues, but I would think it best to clear up the lung function ability before hand.
One day at a time right now, ok? Take care.

Thank you both for your kind words and your support. I do pray that if it is something serious ( other than my weight causing the decrease in my lung capacitiy) it will be treated and that my surgery won't be postponed too far back. i really need this. I know all the tests are set up for a reason. The pulmonolgist said that he does think its because of my weight but wants to be sure. we shall see. it is in God's hands. Thank you again!

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) can interfere with safe anesthesia, if it is serious. On the other hand, carrying excess weight can make the symptoms worse, so losing weight it imperative.
If you do have it, I sure hope it will be not that bad, so you can have your surgery.
(((HUGS)))
