Weight Loss Method Adjustable Gastric Band  |  New Well, I guess I am out of place here. Didn't realize this was all RNY until after i registered, but thought what the hey. I had Lap Band last year - May 9, 2006 and lost 155 pounds in 9 monyhs. I reached goal of 180 in February and have maintained between 175 and 180 since. I started at 334 pounds. Here is my before and after pics. More are available on my personal site. Good to meet you all and hope you don't mind an outsider hanging around once in a while. Thanks

| Super Moderator  | Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. Congratulations on your wonderful weightloss, you are doing so very well!!  Ahh, no need to feel out of place, we welcome anyone on the weightloss journey, whatever method, RNY, lap band, DS, Sleeve, non-op, etc etc. This is a site for mutual support for those who are on this journey however you are doing it. The only reason most people here are RNY folks, is that the majority of WLS surgery is still RNY--I thought the data was somewhere around 70-80%, and there are insurances that cover RNY but not lap band, so some people have no choice there. Also, the board is fairly new, and the number of our members are still limited, but we hope, as this board grows, more people who are doing this journey with differing surgery methods will join us and share their experiences. So, in fact, a successfull lap bander is very welcome, we need input from your experinces so those who are seeking surgery can make the choice best for themselves. Also, though the method may be different, there are many common issues that you will face, whatever route you choose. I hope you will stick around with us a lot, and give us valuable input. (((((((((HUGS)))))))) May your journey go well.
