Default Very Nauseated--3 wks out

Surgery date: 7/18/2011:
I realize it's too early to judge how I will feel in the future, but I'm a little nervous I'm going to have trouble with my pouch. Is it normal to feel so nauseated 3 wks post op? I had the gastric bypass. My insurance didn't cover the sleeve and my Dr. said it would help with my diarrhea issues I've had since I had my gallbladder taken out 11 yrs. ago back in Oct. 2000.

I wish I would have gone for the bigger pouch since I didn't have as much to lose at the time of my surgery date. I wonder if it would have helped any. I didn't think I would have any issues b/c my mom had bypass and she did really well and so did my sister with the sleeve. I know I can't compare myself with them, but at the same time that's why I decided to have the surgery.

Anyone out there who had a rough go of it at first and feel fine now?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Several people have reported feeling nausea and I think their doc gave them medicine
to relieve it.
My mom had bypass the early 70s and did well with it. I wasn't aware you could pick
a pouch size; my doc never discussed that with me. He picked it out himself. (So far
he has done a grrrreat job for me.)
Hope you are feeling better soon. Keep posting.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

It may be that your pouch is still adjusting post op, but you also could have developed a stricture or an ulcer. Have you talked with your surgeon about your nausea? If no, that's the first person to ask about it, especially since you're still very early out. Better be safe than sorry.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. One of the things my surgeons office has recommended for nausea is ginger tea. After I had my gallbladder out I tried it and it really does work. Another thing suggested today at my appointment was that some people find relief by sucking on a lemon. That one doesn't sound too appealing to me, but I might try it if I felt bad enough! Today I picked up 2 different prescriptions for after surgery to help deal with any nausea I may get. One is a suppository and the other is Zofran. I would talk with your doctor and see what he suggests. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs

I've noticed a big improvement the last few days. I feel myself getting better everyday. Just a little low on energy and slightly shaky feeling in my legs and arms. I think from not eating very much. Although I don't have an appetite I've been able to get something in my stomach 3 times a day now.

I think I've been slow to feeling better b/c of some trouble I had in the hospital. I ended up staying a week and couldn't drink anything the whole time. I was throwing up old blood the first few days and all the stress on my stomach caused my pouch and intestine to swell almost shut so nothing was going down. Everything I drank was just sitting in my pouch. Leave it to me to go through some of the worst after surgery. I seem to always get the worst of every illness!
