Hi!...I amnew to this forum and too am waiting on insurance approval. My surgery is set for Jun27th. I am very scared and excited all at once. I've been reading through this forum and am glad to have found it. It seems like everyone has had so many great experiences. I am wondering about the people that have had the surgery - which medical conditions did you have before that you don't have now. I have terrible acid reflux, difficulty breathing, and pain in all my bones......I would love to hear your experinces with your health these days. Maryann |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | MaryAnn, welcome, welcome. Your post sounds so much like me. I was scared to death, wondering if this was the right decision and wondering if I would be the one that couldn't make it work. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, I was giving myself 4 insulin shots a day in my big old fat belly, then taking 4 diabetes pills a day and 2 different high blood pressure pills and other pills and no vitamins. I too had sleep apnea like Lisa. I got up to pee about 3 times a night. My back ached as did my joints and I couldn't walk 5 steps let alone 5 blocks. BUT>>>>>>>>on March 27th,2007, I had RNY and I am so happy. I am 5 weeks out and am off all insulin, off all diabetes meds, only taking 1/2 tablet of my blood pressure meds and taking vitamins. I no longer use my CPAP for my apnea. I walked 1 mile in 20 mins on the treadmill just yesterday. I HAD to go and buy a smaller size of panties this weekend and the compliments are oh so wonderful. I love my life. I am so happy that I can't begin to tell you. So much has changed and I owe it all to my 'new little best friend-my pouch AND the wonderful support I have received 6 months before my surgery and now 5 weekd post op, from this site. You will find this is a dear group of friends that will make your journey easier and you will never be alone through anything you go through on your journey. Welcome again and keep in touch. You ARE doing the right thing. |

Thanks everyone for your very sincere words. I am looking forward to getting my life back. I used to be such an energetic and fun loving person. Although I still am, my weight gets the best of me. I don't have any children and would love to have a couple. I want to be the kind of mother that is able to run after her children and carry them withour having constant pain in the back, knees and ankles.....I'll keep you all posted on my insurance approval or disapproval. Keep posting your stories. They are so inspiring.
