Default Tonight is my first class

I finally get to go to my first Overview class for my insurance provider (Kaiser Nor Cal). Once I attend, I can call my GP and she will make the referral to the WLS department so that I can start my approval process for surgery. My doc already had me do some prelim blood work to check that everything is in order, so now it finally begins.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congrats! I have Kaiser (So Cal) and they do things way different down here, it sounds like your process may not be as lengthy as it is here...which is a great thing. From the first visit with my GP to the actual surgery date, it was 22 months! Crazy, huh?

Wow! So much to think about. It's not that I hadn't heard much of the information before, but hearing it from a clinical viewpoint, as opposed to a more personal testimony perspective, didn't make things so clear cut in my mind.

Things to ponder...

Did your orientation include giving you a detailed synopsis of how each type of surgery is done? In so cal Kaiser, thats what they did...gave a detailed explanation of each of the surgerys, and how theyre done, and answered questions from those attending the class. It was informative only, almost clinical. When I left, I looked at it like it was something that I needed to do before surgery and now I can take it off my check list. If you have to go thru a series of classes (like i did), then it gets more personal because you have class with the same bunch of people for several weeks in a row.

Yes it was rather clinical, but I got more info on the sleeve than I had previous, so I found that useful. It really almost had a negative effect as I drove home thinking "I must be crazy to sign on for such a high maintenance lifestyle change. And all those possible complications. And, and, and. " My brain went into overdrive and I found sleep difficult because of it.

Thankfully I woke today feeling more armed than alarmed. I believe the sleeve is more along the lines of what I'm looking for and what I'm comfortable with. I've been reading the posts here that turn up on my search for info on sleeves, and I'm glad I waited until this morning to make my decision on whether or not to ask for the referral from my GP. I did ask for the referral and I'm at more peace with that decision than I have been since I began my inquiry.

Now to figure out a way to keep myself from checking my email for a response from my doc regarding the referral several times a day...I wish I wasn't so impatient.
