soup is a slider so you will feel like you can eat a ton. Best advice is to measure and only eat what you have measured out. Measuring will help you learn what you can and can not hold. But will also help keep you from over eating which early out you need as you cant feel full as the nerve was cut.

I had the same "issue" soon after my surgery. I was able to eat two eggs with 1 slice of cheese and it scared me. My nutrionist and doctor both said that as long as you can eat it without discomfort and never eat more than 8 oz/1 cup total ( I have yet to eat a full cup of food), you will be ok. I have been following that direction and have had no problems.

It depends on the texture. Soup will just slide through. Make it a habit to measure out your foods so you always know what your portions are.

Oh my goodness!!! I have this exact same problem and ironically my surgery was December 22nd making my one month Thursday! I feel like I can eat more than a half of a cup too! Especially with soups and oatmeal as well. I can eat almost anything as well. Are sugar-free candies okay for if you have a sweet tooth and can't bear it anymore? I definitely am over the pureed food as well, since the consistency makes me nautious... That's the reason I've been eating soup like crazy. HELP!

| I feel the same way I am almost 10months out and now I can eat almost anything. I never get sick and I feel like I can eat way more than 4oz. I keep a food journal so I know that I am not eating more than I should. It’s scary though.

I am shocked at what you are eating. I had my surgery at a well known hospital in Boston and they said NO SOUP (filler) and until you can eat 3 Oz of protien and protien only should you move on to fruits and veggies. So try that and watch what little you can eat. Greek yogurt, tuna, chicken, turkey. eggs. Eat just that and see how things go. Once you can eat 3 oz add in a little bit of veggies (soft). Try that and see if you can eat alot. I bet you cant. Hope this helps.

| I don't eat soup. I was told to avoid it as it is hard to tell what is in it. I never eat the creamed or canned soup..sometimes chicken broth when I first had surgery. I guess each program is different. A lot on RR say they eat mashed potatoes...that was never onl my list either. ?? Good luck!

What is the exact stage of food you are at? Pureeds? Soft foods? Or, regular food? What foods are on YOUR surgeon's list?
The cravings you are having at your stage is mainly head hunger. Your brain and pouch aren't completely reconnected yet, so, even if your pouch is full, you may not be able to feel it.
Also understand that fluids and pureeds will pass through your pouch much faster than solid foods. Clear fluids will just flow through and not stop in your pouch, as the pouch has no valve that closes off the pouch from the gut. So, fluids will just pass through. If you at the full liquids stage, and creamy soups are on the list, it will go slower, but still pass through your pouch. The thicker the texture of the food is, they will be held in the pouch longer because the opening to the gut is small. Once you are on regular foods, you probably will find that you will be able to eat only a very small amount.
Until then, measure what you eat, and stick to the plan.
You will be fine.
