Unhappy New mbr, a little worried

Hi all

I am 5 months out from surgery and haven't lost a pound in almost a month. I was doing pretty well and have lost a total of 55.
But now, I haven't been walking or getting enough water but does it matter that much? Is that the reason it has stopped? Is there something wrong?
Anyone?

thanks
Janice

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Janice, happy 5 months! I guess I would evaluate my weight loss goal. This surgery is a tool, not a guaranteed weight loss/maintenance method. This means, you have work to do. Yes, it matters that you don't walk or get in your water. You have to keep up your hydration, and the water helps flush out the fat as you move along. If you aren't walking, are you doing some other excercise? Your weight loss won't go any further if you don't put in some effort, it's in your hands now! You can do it!!

I lost my job shortly after my surgery, about 1 month after and I think I am dealing with a little depression. I am on antidepressants and was before surgery. I am home every day by myself and I eat too much and don't seem to do what I know I need to do. I don't have a lot of friends to support me, one girl even brings sweets over and I have told her to stop. I don't understand and am so frustrated with myself.

Yes water & exercise is important! Have you been tracking everything you put in your mouth? If not, starting to write everything down again may help you realize if you are getting off track somewhere. Good luck & stick with it!

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it. I got strep throat, a sinus infection, an ear infection and tendenitus in my shoulder all since I had surgery. I haven't been writing things down and haven't done a good job of that since the very beginning. I have to start but do it for like a day and then don't do it. ugg, I suck.

You don't suck, your human...I don't log everything I eat either...but i know I should. Don't get down on yourself, just try to do a little something extra everyday.

omorgan,
I really appreciate the encouragement. I have been facing more challenges and I need a weight loss pal. I had been feeling good about the work I had been doing but for the last month after getting sick I can't seem to get back on track. Is there a way to put out feelers for buddies? Or are you free to mentor? thanks,
Janice

Welcome to the board, thank you for joinnig us.
Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

A stall around the time you're at is quite normal. Make sure you get in all the water and protein you must, and try to pick up on the walking again.
It's when the scale stalls that your inches/clothes sizes fly, so take a look at how things are in that corner.
You're doing fine, and you will be fine.

Thank you so very much for the encouragement and the nice posts. I appreciate it more than you know.
I really am going to wake up tomorrow and write down my water and food for the day. I had been doing it some times with an app called calorie counter and it was cool because I could scan an upc bar and it would down load all the info. So I guess in a way I was writing it down with the phone.

I am encouraged and thank you again.

I was going to suggest an app or sparkpeople.com (free) - they are both very easy ways to keep track of your calories.

That said, I'm bad at tracking, too - and that's because I get in denial about what I'm eating sometimes! But, you need to hold yourself accountable. And, if you can swing it, maybe a few counseling appts. will help you.

I was laid off in January 2010 when I was 8 months pregnant, and was out of work for 8 months. I was thrust into being a full-time, stay-at-home Mom to a 3-yr old and a newborn. I am so not cut out for that job! I had a very hard time adjusting to it and wish, now, that I had gone to talk to someone about how to handle it b/c I was one to always justify myself through my work. I think if I had figured that out, I would have learned to enjoy that time off (as I would love to be able to be part-time these days!). LOL

Good luck and keep your chin up - you've got this!!
