| Hello
I am new here, and I am about 4 months out from my sleeve surgery. I've lost 50lbs. and I've come to realize that I need some guidance. Alot of people I work with have had or are having the surgery, and now I feel like I'm under pressure to compete with their weight loss. Others have lost more than me and I'm feeling really self conscious about it. Every time I talk to some one they always want to know how much I've lost, or how the surgery process works, and not to mention being uncomfortable with people always checking out what I'm eating or how much of something I've got. I want to go to a group to talk about all this, they are just so far away, so I thought I would give this a try...

Welcome. This is a great group full of friendly, supportive people. Please try not to think of your weight loss as a competition. Each of us is so different and we all lose differently. You have done a great job and should be proud of yourself. Also, you don't owe anyone an explanation. I've found that lots of times when people ask these questions they really want to talk about their own experiences. You can turn the topic around by saying that you are doing fine and asking how they are doing. Please let us know how you are as you progress.

| I agree with Carol Jo in that we all lose differently and shouldn't compare ourselves to others. For one thing everybody's metabolism is different so some may lose weight slower or faster than others. As long as you are following the wls rules you will lose! Slow and steady wins the race!
I think that 50 lbs in 4 months is fantastic! Keep up the good work and keep coming to RR for support! Hugs |

| You have valid points; I think I share them and that is why I didn't tell too many people I had WLS. Just didn't want "all of that drama." I guess you just can't say "Beak out..mind your own business." My support group keeps me going. I feel I am working the steps... such as an alcoholic at an AA meeting... I think I will always need the support. Can you start your own? We wanted a time to meet for patients "further out"..8 months and out. I found a place for us to meet ... and people always come! Some libraries offer free meeting rooms... maybe your surgeon or nutrionist could help?? Support has been key to me. But you do have RR. Lots of people on this site, and it has been so helpful to me. GOod luck.

| Thank You So Much!
I really appreciate all of the positive feedback all you nice ladies have given me. If I find myself in need of advice or someone to talk to I will not hesitate to come here. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to talk with people who are going through the same things I have and have awesome feedback. I'm trying to jump start my weight loss by going back on the pre-op diet. I've been really bad about what I've been eating, and I feel like I need to get back to basics, so to speak. I will keep ya'll posted...
