Default HELP ME! I can't do the puree diet anymore...

I swear this is absolutely KILLING ME. Four weeks on puree is ridiculous. I have absolutely had it with this dumb diet. I don't feel full AT ALL, I can't chew and after only a few hours I'm STARVING! I cannot take it anymore! OMG! ANYONE have anything to share?! I am only 1 month post-op and I haven't become sick from anything I've eaten (good or bad)! I was really trying to stick it out for another week and a half but OMG I want to throw up when I think about puree!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!! I have been getting all of my protein shakes and things in but I can't understand why I'm so hungry and not satisfied! Not to mention these CRAVINGS!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

The doctors here only have you on pureed for 2 weeks. 2 liquid, 2 pureed, and 2 soft foods.

Hang in there, you're almost done. Some docs make you go a little longer, I guess they really want your staple line to heal well so nothing interferes with it.
Keep your eye on the prize, it's worth the wait (weight).

I was able to have cottage cheese/yogurt/pinto beans and scrambled egg whites on my "pureed" portion of the diet. I did get some sugar free frozen vanilla yogurt and that tamed my cravings a bit. If you're truly at the end of your rope, or can't have some of the variety above.....I would email or call your nutritionist. Mine listened, gave me some ideas but didn't really cave to my demands . It is nice to have people that understand. She gave me some ideas that offered some different tastes, but I understand that you crave the crunch. We hear you and feel your pain- but it's best for your healing (try to think of that instead of "diet") to not go there. You can make it!!

I know it's hard but you need to follow your surgeon's rules. I was on liquids a full month before getting to move on to pureeds. There is still a lot of healing going on inside of you. Have you tried mixing your shakes with less fluid to make them thicker? You will stay fuller longer if you do. And for your crunch craving have you tried ice? My dentist would kill me if he only knew! lol

For the crunch factor, try crunching on ice. That will add a little to your water intake as well.

Thanks everyone! I know it's imperative for my healing but I don't have many options. I'm lactose-intolerant, allergic to eggs and love refried beans but they give me nasty cramps and gas. That's the biggest problem though, I can't eat much because most options make me sick. And the ones that don't leave me staving. My nutritionist is definitely getting a sweet call tomorrow because I really AM at the end of my rope! I don't know what else to do! The only protein thing that has definitely helped is my banana yogurt protein shake that I freeze in order to eat it slowly. The only problem with that is I can't eat protein shakes 5 times a day for every meal. I'm really not trying to be dramatic, it just reaaaally sucks to be in the place I'm in right now!
