| New and seeking support
Hi, I am new not only to this site but to the process of bariatric surgery. I am seeking support. I see the nutritionist for the second time tomorrow and then next Tuesday I see the surgeon. I hope he apporves me for the surgery. Once that happens my date of surgery will be set. I am both very excited and very nervous about the operation itself.

Welcome! When you meet with your nutritionist and surgeon, ask all the questions you have! Take notes! There are no stupid questions whatsoever and it'll settle the nerves somewhat. This board is a wealth of information and you'll be able to learn alot!

Thanks so much. All of you. I have never been on a sit like this. I saw nutritionist today. She is thrilled that I lost 22 pounds this month just from making dietary changes. I will see the surgeon next Tuesday. I need to get exercising ( I used to be very active years ago) and cannot wait to feel good again.
Any suggestions on creative ways to get the protein? I am not a huge milk fan.

| It is a good idea to start trying protein drinks now. Buy one kind of several companies, and taste. Of course your taster will be off for a few weeks after surgery... but it does come back. Milk= me too. Not so much a fan. So, try clear liquid proteins I buy New Whey tubes and mix a tube with 32 oz of water. Sometimes I put a little Crystal Light in it. Grape=not good, but Watermelon, Fruit Berry are ok. I just read a poster putting 2 scoops of protein in a skinny latte at Starbucks.. there is a "shot"... 1 or 2 scoops in 2 oz water and add a little Crystal Light powder, shake and drink it down! Also, put a scoop of whey into a decaf coffee... and a little cinnamon. Ymmy (but mix the whey with a little warm water first.) Good luck. Just keep at it.

Welcome having had surgery over 2 years ago my advice is for you to follow the advice you are given by your surgeon and nutritionist. Know that this is something to help you not a cure all. You need to realize that you can go back to your old habits and you will gain weight back if you do. In the beginning you will think its fairly easy but after a period of time you will begin to eat more normal.I'm not saying you can eat large quantities at a time but you can begin to snack snack! Don't get in this habit or you will be back to your same problems you had prior to surgery. I not trying to scare you just a reallity check for you to remember. Good luck from one who really cares about your success
