It is normal to have pain on either the left or the right side. Most often the pain is related to the largest incision from your surgery. In my case, it was on the right side. This was the largest incision for me. It is where they insert the instruments used to do most of the work. There is alot of manipulation from this particular site, thus causing you alot of discomfort. This will pass in time...usually in a couple weeks. Take your pain medicine if needed, but continue to get up and move around. The gas pains will also improve if you move around. Otherwise it builds up until it becomes unbearable..or so it seems.

| I agree... talk to your doctor. You know your body, and you did have surgery...but if it seems unusual, strange whatever... call in. Good luck!

Good evening, just thought I'd share my pain (I just had surgery on the 1st).
My side hurts on the left side (where my main incision is). I try to stand up as straight as I can, & the nurses at the hospital told me to stand as straight as I can. Everyday that has gone by, it gets better & better.. Unless I've been sitting for awhile.
Wish you a speedy recovery!

I couldnt stand up straight for a week, I literally walked hunched over and very very slow. The pain was so bad that I couldnt walk for more than 5 minutes (no joke). I literally felt like my doctor threw in a few extra stitches/staples for good measure and I unnaturally felt attached to something inside. Exactly one week later I was sitting and I literally felt like a stitch gave away and guess what??? Immediate relief! For the first time in a week I was able to sit and stand up straight. It didnt take away the pain though, regular intervals of pain meds, time and a heating pad did that.
It cant hurt to make a call in to your doctor, he may want to see you. ((((HUGS)))) You will feel better soon.
