Hi. I just joined! I'm very excited to be able to talk to others who are going through the same issues as me! I had my gastric bypass on January 17,2012. It seemed as though I immediately lost 20 pounds but now I have stayed at that for a week. Is that normal? I am terrified that I am one of those people you hear about that undergo this surgery and only loose like 30 pounds. Any one out there going through this like me? Am I doing something wrong?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congratulations on your surgery and 20 pounds in what, 3 weeks? If everyone could do that, there'd be less surgeries!! Try not to spend your time worrying about all those what-ifs. You job now is to walk, sip, heal, take your vitamins- let that consume your mind. Keep in touch!

Welcome. You might be losing inches instead of pounds. I'm losing in steps. Go a little while without losing and then I lose a little. Good luck on your weightloss.

Welcome and don't worry, you are doing just fine. At some point, I think we all thought that we would be the one this will not work for, or that we "broke" it. You have done well, and your body is recovering from major surgery. Don't worry, and do yourself a favor and stay off the scale for at least a month. Your body has to adjust to what just happened to it. Just try and focus on the hydration, vitamins, walking, protein, etc., and the rest will take care of itself. I know this is to say and you are going to want to keep weighing yourself. Just try and resist the temptation or you will drive yourself crazy. And we don't want that to happen!

Welcome! I weighed myself everyday till I saw my Doctor on Thursday and he said to weigh myself once a month. I am still tempted to get on the scale and see if I dropped any.

Hello and welcome to the group. This is a great place for support and encouragement. You have done great, keep up the good work and don't worry you will see those numbers moving down again, it just takes time for your body to adjust after all it's been through.

It is all true. It seems when I don't lose weight I lose inches and my clothes get big and baggy again. Not sure how that works, but it IS a fact.
I also agree to getting away from the scale. Just breathe and live your life... next time you do get on it, you will see a difference. Good luck!
