Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a few weeks and have realized this is the best online place for losers.

Three weeks ago I had a balloon procedure to loosen a stricture. My first couple of weeks after Roux-n-Y surgery when great. I found out just after surgery that I have a very small esophagus which caused me an extra 2 days in the hospital and led to problems with my stricture. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy to have had the surgery and in general I'm going great. It's just that eating and drinking are a bigger problem now than the first 2 weeks after surgery. I think I've found the right place to be now. The information I've found here is already proving useful...more so than my dietitian and surgeon!

Specifically, if anyone can pass along information to help me find better ways to manage intake I'd love it. I'm checking in my my doctors so don't be concerned there. However even swallowing water makes me nauseous at times. ALL of the high protein drinks/mixes cause me to gag or make me so nauseous that I'm unable to eat for the rest of the day. The professional advice I'm getting is to "suck it up" and do what "must be done". In other words, force myself to eat the things that are making me sick.

What am I doing instead? Drinking decaf tea with stevia, sucking no-cal fruit bars for liquids. Eating eggs, salmon and chicken with a bit of cheese when I can. If I manage to avoid nausea and stomach cramps, I try to add small amounts of steamed veggies. I'm managing around 500 to 800 calories a day with 30 to 40 grams of protein. Perhaps 30 ounces of fluid max. That's way off so I need serious help and advice. In the meantime, I feel GREAT with tons of energy.

Can anyone point me to a thread for this kind of help? Many thanks in advance.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.
