Default Home at last!!

I had my surgery on 1/31/12. I came home late afternoon 2/2/12.... I was taken back to the hospital (different hospital - not worth going into - suffice it to say I had a headstrong emt) by ambulance early morning 2/3/12 with a GI bleed... the hospital I was in took a 'wait and see' approach to see if the bleeding would stop without further surgery or a scope. I got a total of 4 units of blood before my crit stayed stable. I had a modified barium swallow today to make sure there were no leaks - I actually told the radiology doc NO when he asked if I felt up to lying on my stomach - sorry, not there yet!!

the emt had a horrible time getting an iv line in - but finally got a small one in... the hospital staff were unable to get another in anywhere but my neck - so I had a central line until late this afternoon. I still have tegaderm on my neck, so I'm not going out tomorrow!!

I'm back to stage 1 of the diet for tonight, just to give my pouch time to readjust to having anything it in... I was NPO until after the barium swallow today - so, Friday morning through about 2pm today!

the initial hospital stay wasn't bad - and I used limited pain meds. The only time I used pain meds during the 2nd hospital say was when I was trying to get a migraine to break but couldn't take anything by mouth - I can honestly say that iv dilaudid doesn't touch a migraine.

I'm glad I don't seem to have a need for the liquid pain meds because roxicet is NASTY - I had to take one dose of that before I was discharged last Thursday to make sure it didn't nauseate me.

I'm back to stage 1 for the rest of tonight and can go to stage two tomorrow - my next appt with the dietitian is on the 21st.

I'll see my surgeon on Wednesday to have my staples removed - though they COULD have come out today - none of the doctors I saw was willing to take them out since I have an appt with my surgeon on Wednesday.

I have a lot of catching up to do with my students. But I'm preparing to go to bed for the night!!

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Tricia, I'm sorry to hear about you having such a scary complication but am glad they fixed it and you are doing better! Please rest and take it easy so that you can heal!
Did you have open RNY? Just curious about what staples you were talking about.
I will be praying that you have a speedy recovery and no more complications!
Please take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.
Great big hugs.

Glad to hear you're doing fine now, but did the hospital at any time contact your surgeon and bring him into the picture? Because, since you're so early out of surgery, if they don't give the heads up to your surgeon, that can border negligence.
