Question Newbie-Trying to decide

Hi all of you nice people.
I'm a newbie and I'm trying to decide if WLS is for me. And if so, witch one.
I'm 5'2" tall and 252 Lbs.
48 years old
I've been over weight since 3rd grade
I've tried, Atkins, Richard Simmons, Low Fat, Low carb, and nothing works.
I have little to no energy
I have type 2 diebetes and astio-artherites in my back and knees making alot of walking difficult..
Any sugggestions are very appreciated...

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
What type of surgery is best for you will be something that is best discussed with the surgeon you choose.
What does your dr say? Have you discussed with him/her about this?
Also, looking up bariatric clinics and centers that are close to you, and attending information seminars that these places give is a good place to start.

(((((HUGS)))) May your journey go well.

Welcome Welcome Welcome!
I would say DEFINTIELY go to a seminar and get all the initial information you can find. People here are great and are willing to share experiences but ultimately this is something that you and your doctor need to discuss and decide. Good luck.

HEY just wanted to welcome you to the board.
As for which surgery is for you its a decision only
you can make after meeting with a surgeon...
for me
when i started the journey i was thinking lap band.
I was 42 years old and 310 lbs. It was in my decision
process time i was told i proly wouldnt get under 200 lbs
at my size with the lap band so it helped me sway
to the gastic bypass.

I had my surgery june 1 2005 and lost 143 lbs and got down
to 167 lbs.

I wear size 8 and i am happy!
BUT for which surgery is right for you only
you can make that choice
good luck and i look forward to getting to know
you thru your future posts!

Welcome!!! Like the others, I would suggest going to a seminar and really learning about the different options you have. This is a decision only YOU can make. Just do your best to research research research. There is alot of great information out there. Good luck!!

Seminar's are the best way to go IMHO. I went to them and they explained a lot. I still waited almost another year before making my final decision and I have no regrets !

Bren

Welcome to the board. I think if you get as much information as possible through seminars and reading here on the board you will make a decision that is right for you. We all had to make that decision and when it is right you will know it. Mattie
