Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Dear friends, I had my r n y surgery on 6/18 and thanks to many good wishes, prayers and my wonderful surgeon came home yesterday. I do feel sore, but certainly manageable with pain, I'm walking, "eating" and sleeping better at home now. I wondered if anyone had food dreams. I had the worst dreams last night that I ate everything that would make me throw up and that I wrecked everything. I know it was just a dream, but oh boy, realistic! My hubby ate dinner last night while I ate my broth. His looked & smelled so much better. Does anyone have a phrase they repeat to them self at times to help get through the moment? I thought to myself just prior to surgery all I have to do is remember to breathe, get moving & walk and cough and I will be fine. This helped me a lot because I knew it worked for many others before me. I also wonder if anyone had low back pain after surgery, from laying around so much? What do you do to alleviate that? Thanks everyone! Amy PS: Down 10 pounds since Monday too!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | CONGRATULATIONS! You're now on the losers bench!!! Food dreams were a regular occurance for me the first week or two, THEN, i started to notice the food commercials lol! You wil get used to it. BUt you will also realize after a while that you dont even have a taste for the things being advertised. MARK MY WORDS!!!! Lower back pain is due to the fact that you are not using your ab muscles right now. Your back is trying to compensate for the shift in "responsibility". It will ease up as you heal. The only thing that i think helped me get rid of it was getting up, walking and being as active as possible (within reason of course) I think once you get past the first few weeks you will be fine. Remember to sip sip sip. Welcome to the bench! Good luck on your journey. Last edited by Kenyar : 06-23-2007 at 09:52 AM. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Congrats on a successful surgery! I had food dreams, this may sound crazy but I watched the food channel and it helped the first couple of weeks with me wanting food and missing food. I did not eat with anyone the first week or two because I did not want to feel deprived until my mind had wrapped itself around what I had just done to my body. Roz

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Amy, That's so funny!!! I keep dreaming I've gotten into the donuts in the kitchen or the beef jerky or something.... I know I haven't cause I surely would be in PAIN. 10 lbs is great!!!!!! I've lost 17 but just about all mine is fluid. My legs looked like two giant packages for hamburger for the longest time and they finally kinda look like legs again... My pain has been all in my tummy (I had a hernia and Gall Bladder fixed too) and legs (from laying on a stiff lounger). Pillows behind you are good for your back. I've stayed elevated. Sitting up straight is a killer!!!! Good luck!!!! Cindy

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Kenyar, Thanks for the tip! I hope you're right and I loose all interest in food. That would be a blessing. I am walking and also I will try the pillows that someone suggested. Thanks! Amy
